As the subject says; what determines what Reach your post will get when running ads?

I'm currently running ads on instagram, and have been daily for about two weeks.. in the beginning the ad was getting a good Reach daily, and slowly after time the Reach decreased significantly, but the amount being spent is the same daily.

Also, when I ran ads in FB ad manager, the Reach was more similar to what I'm getting now, and is why I went back to running boost... but now the Reach has decreased on boost, so I would like to know what exactly is determining the Reach? I'm assuming it would have something to do with your bid, but with boost there is no setting a bid, so I'm a little confused about how that works. If anyone can break down how that works for me, would appreciate it.

Facebook now determines reach by counting the number of times a post appears on a user's screen. This should improve consistency between Pages' organic reach and Facebook's ad reach metrics.

Boost is useless. Always run conversion based ads. Even if you want more impressions, go through the ad manager to run an ad for impressions. With boost, FB will quickly show your ad to a bunch of people that may or may not engage with your ad.
FB is erratic till you've optimized your pixel with data. Once your pixel's got enough data it will spend money in an optimum manner.

reach defines the number of people has viewed your content, ads or page atleast once

That's not my question.

I'm not asking what is reach. I'm asking what determines the Reach the post gets.

I've actually had alot of success with boost, and little success with fb ad manager. But my question isn't which is better, my question is what determines the Reach your post will recieve.

What determines reach is your audience and frequency.
If your audience has already seen that ad at some point during the day, the day before, the next portion of the audience may not be reached in next day, either due to factors beyond Facebook's control or because it determines that your ad is less relevant than another one you are competing for at the auction.

Thank you, this is the answer I was looking for. I was setting my audience manually before, I'm going to try having them find the audience themselves... have you ever experimented with this? I shut down all my boosted posts, and going to try again in the ad manager.

Targeting, Bidding and Budgeting. These two points are critical.

The reach of posts when running ads is determined by a number of factors such as: advertising goals, audience goals, advertising content

The reach of ads is estimated and is primarily based on budgeting and audience targeting.

There are many factors that affect reach including , how people are engaging with your pages content. so main focus your budget, and target. then as soon as possible.

I feel the following factors could impact reach on Instagram ads: Bids; like higher increase the chance your ad will be shown to target audience which gives you higher reach. Another thing is competition; if many advertisers are targeting the same audience with similar ads, it can increase competition for ad placements, driving down individual reach. Other factors are: budget and pacing, Campaign objectives and ad format, Creative fatigue.

To improve you reach you can refine your target audience, experiment with ad formats, optimize your campaign objective, monitor and adjust.

Reach is the number of people who saw any content from your page or about your page. this metric is estimated.
