tried to open an account at poloniex.com but they want me to hold up my passport via webcam.. which I guess i can do but is that site legit? are there better sites?

yes, it's legit. and most sites also ask for your id

Yeah, I think its legit, but i had never used it. Almost, every legit trading exchange require your ID.

I find Bittrex to be the best. Binance is ok too.

This.

I use Coinbase to transfer my £ to an exchange then sent it to GDAX for free to get lower fees when converting my £ into Bitcoin or Ethereum, they also currently support Litecoin but I don'r use it. I then either send my Bitcoin or Ethereum to my Trezor if I am keeping it or off to Bittrex or Binance to trade it for other coins or tokens.

Is Bittrex legit and safe? Because I've read a lot to prefer Poloniex but I think Bittrex has more coins? Or so it seems
