What car do you drive?

And how much is the insurance on this for a 19 year old?

Exactly.

Not going to lie - a considerable chunk (lets just say well over £5k) that was only permissible because of a number of special conditions including immaculate company policy - a favour from someone
A will cone down drastically after 21 though

Sorry man don't buy it.

I can't believe as a 18/19 year old when UK legal driving starts at 17 any insurance company would be insane to insure you and for 5k... nah it does't even cover the cost of the car or the damage your going to do let alone being young and stupid... I can't buy it sorry and I can't see it coming down "drastically" at 21 either it's taken me most of my adult driving life to get my van insurance to under £200...

My first car was a Triumph Spitfire MK2 with a dolomite sprint engine in it EVEN on classic car insurance at 18 it cost me well over 2600 to insure that thing..

I just can't wrap my head around the fact that no matter what conditions you have unless you are only insured to drive it 100 miles how the heck your covered on a 60k car for 5k insurance companies are there to make money not pay out.

My mate has a 911 does limited milage on it in his 30s and insurance on that thing is just under 3k.

As for the original thread.

I've just upgraded to a 2012 Transit Connect... Don't care for cars that much anymore I have a C10 conversion I would like to do one day but can wait until our next house is built.

Last van was a Fiat Scudo I just got rid of it for the 2012 was cheaper to buy that than have the welding and hand break sorted put 490k on that van was sad to see it go...

1985 when I was in the military I'd just passed my driving test and was a police trained driver but was 3 months shy of my 18th birthday. A guy on base was posted to Germany and he had a 2.8i Capri he offered to me cheap.
I rang 6 or 7 insurance brokers and every single one quoted me more than the price of the car for a years insurance with an excess that made your eyes water.

Needless to say, I didn't buy the car.

LOL Capri... everyone I know who owned one had hit a sheep on the Brecon Beacons .. maybe similar fate hence why he wanted to off load it. God thinking about that car and friends at the time is a blast to the past...

Only reason I paid out for my Spitfire was everyone was driving renault 5s or ford escorts ... at least I used to pull up in a 2 seater soft top got me more skirt than I ever care to admit to my wife ;)

Mazda 3 and a Mazda CX-5. Family cars for my wife, kids, and dog.

Congrats, that's a great car!

How much km you got on it? Any issues so far?

I've considered both of them, why are you going to swap?
Good question.
Honestly I am satisfied with Sportage. Especially they are good today.
Swaping to Jaguar looks like only brand and 'watch me I am cool guy on Jaguar' issue.
Been test driving Jaguar. Better. But not like 1-2-3 levels ahead of Sportage. More like question of prestige and better acceleration.
But yeah, price of F Pace is way ahead of Sportage. So, honestly if you are not of an Instagram boy, then you can completely be fine with Sportage.

Thanks! Don't mean to be biased but I've tested all kinds of 4x4 before and couldn't believe first time the sheer power when I put my foot down compared to a range rover sport even and the audis usual smooth and seamless steering makes it bliss to drive.

@t2van I don't want to go into any detail but lets just say having someone solid working an appropriate role in an insurance company helps.

Unless that person is the owner. I don't buy it. Sorry man.

Insurance companies are fuckers they refuse to pay out for anything and every time you claim for anything it's a battle. So I just can't believe you got insurance for that car for 5k considering your age. I think if you take out a Bently or something the insurance is close to 10k due to the cost of the car... So I'm not sure how the hell you got it. It doesn't just come down to your age its the cost to repair it, replace it or have a claim if you pay 5k and then you write the car off I can't imagine they will cut a cheque to replace the car the maths don't add up.

If you got insurance then fine.

But to me and no offence but I call bullshit.
