what can i do with 10000 computers?

Get them to play a bleep code song - that would be mint... :D

If you can make 10k computers utilize 100% CPU, HDD, IO etc at the same time you can make a power failure !
Be the right man at the right time and sell them better electronics :-)

University networking is a lot different than the way high schools do it, so I can only give a few ideas that might not work.

1) Go to documents and settings, and see if you see a shit load of accounts. If you do, and you can verify that you can copy files to their accounts, copy your PPI onto everyone's desktop. There's and easy 5 grand or more.

2) Harvest school email addresses. Go to outlook and then look for mailing lists. My school has a built in mailing list for every student, teacher, school etc for the whole district. Then mail them whatever.

All I got for now

I beleive he meant 1,000. It was just a mistyped mistake.

no its not a typo and there are more than 10k computers at my uni
not only that i have access to another unversity which also has 10k+ computers

the only problem is that i am limited on a computer as i dont have admin rights, also i cant do anything stupid i.e hack as every student has a login id which is recorded everytime i login

I guess you're not at Harvard then as no university has 10,000 computers!

Not in a million years would I ever believe any university in the ENTIRE world has 10k computers.

this post is not about believing or not i just want some ideas on how i can utilize them

Well it is ridiculous to give ideas to someone who doesn't even have access to 10k computers.

why couldnt it? my university probably had 3-5k computers combined in all the computer labs, and it was a school w/ 15k students

I went to one of the largest universities in the world and with University of Cambridge library access as well as the local one I don't think there would be 10k computers all together. Besides, don't all universities have some rules in place to stop people from abusing their computers? Do you not have to have a student account to login? Everyone should get a bit of virtual space so all your setting are only saved on your account and not the physical computer? When I got my own server + desktop with dedicated internet access, even then engineers would make sure I don't do anything illegal. I think you are full of it.

if u took some time out to read above i mentioned i dont have full rights because everyone requires a login id
and just for ur information im talking about London School of economics and Maughan library (one of the biggest in the world)

if u have no ideas to contribute then u shouldnt be posting stupid stuff and hijacking the thread, i made this post to get some information not to get flamed

I was just saying that you would not be able to do much. What I did not believe was 10.000 computers. Even if you get 2 m\2 on average per computer including all the desk and sitting/walking space that would be 4 football fields in space needed to accommodate them.

we have a 4 story library which has over 1.5 miles of book space per floor. we have about 5k computers over the whole campus for about 12k students.

We could never get access to all of them though!

"The LSE has around 1000 Pentium computers in computer classrooms, open access computer areas around the School and the residence computer rooms. All computer classrooms and open access areas have printing facilities. The opening hours of these rooms and areas vary (see below). All users must abide by the Rules of the Public Computer Rooms and Areas. For security reasons, please ensure that you have your LSE ID card with you at all times."

listen...
read the posts above, maughan library is a part of KCL (which i am a student of aswell) KCL has 3 campuses if u put them together PLUS the library (keeping in mind which is one of the worlds biggest) then it comes to 10k computers

now moving to LSE
LSE also has many campuses, the library+uni both combined had 10k computers there aswell

i dont know what kind of universities u flamers went to but all im asking is for some ideas
