What can I do when impressions increase but clicks decrease?

I’m trying to understand why a website can get more impressions but fewer clicks, and what I should look at to figure out what’s causing the drop.

High impressions mean Web thinks your page is relevant, but low clicks mean users aren't sold on it. Maybe double-check if the search queries in your console actually match your page's main keywords?
 
Sometimes more impressions means you’re showing up in places where people are not really interested. Check the new search terms, remove weak topics, and focus more on queries that bring the right visitors.

look the first thing I'd check is CTR, average position, and the queries driving the extra impressions in Google Search Console.

More impressions with fewer clicks can happen when you're appearing for broader or lower-position queries, or when SERPs have more ads, featured snippets, AI results, etc. I'd compare the data before/after the drop and then review title/meta, search intent, SERP features, and ranking changes.

less clicks with more impressions often indicates that the CTR is falling. first of all i would analyze queries and pages causing impressions before making any changes bcz sometimes u can get impressions from irrelevant nd broader keyword. find out what keywords have lost their CTR how the keywords rank nd if there were any changes on SERP.
 
nowadays a lot of people have the same complaint, and I think AI Overviews are one of the main reasons. It can really eat clicks because when Google answers the query directly in the AI Overview, many users just get their answer there and don't scroll down to check the organic results.

What i would do is looks at the query level data first instead of the CTR as a whole. this is because it is possible for clicks to decrease despite of higher visibility if your impressions comes from positions that are lower or from ir relevant searches.
 
When impressions rise but clicks fall, check your CTR, keyword positions, search intent, and titles first. Sometimes rankings improve for broader searches while titles fail to attract users.
 
Compare this month with last month and check which pages had the biggest drop in clicks. This will help you find where the problem started.

i would start with checking average positions. when impressions come from lower positions, additional visibility is a gud thing for gsc even though the CTR decreases. At this point i would perform tests on the titles of those pages that losts their CTR.

Usually this means your pages are being shown for more searches, but they’re ranking lower or appearing for less relevant queries. I’d check the GSC Performance report for the changes in average position, CTR, and the specific queries/pages gaining impressions
 

If your impresssions are increasing and clicks are decreasing continusly check your google search console and try to improve meta titles and descriptions also.​

 
Yes, high impressions but low clicks generally mean that your pages are being displayed frequently, yet the incentive to click on them is diminishing. This does not automatically imply that the drop in traffic is due to a technical SEO issue.
