What business to start?

I want to build something that will last I have some skills like WordPress and basic SEO but I don't necessarily want to run a web agency or something like that. I rather build something once and get paid over and over again from it.

Any suggestions?

Make a forum. After it gets popular , members will be adding content there.

I can't really see myself running a forum... I don't know which niche I would pick and how I would go about even getting members to post there in the first place. What about monetization down the road?

Monetization will follow once you make it popular. You can have paid sections , donations, paid promotions and much more. Choose niche as per interest but this is something which will take a lot of budget and time.

Go into something where you understand the needs of the buyers. Sales is all it comes to so if you know your buyers you will have an easier time selling to them.
