What Biz Needs "Reputation Management?"

Hi all,

I was doing some searching today...and located a local Restaurant that does a kick-arse business (mexican).

Now...i've been there a few times and the food has always been good. However, from a little research i see that their reviews are negative 75%.

LOL...but its not affecting their business.

QUESTION: Who and what type of business NEEDS a reputation management service?

May be they are not taking care of it . may be they have much better reviews on other review website.

Mostly those businesses which have got negative reviews need reputation management. But it also depends on which site the reviews are and are they ranking in the search engines? If the answer is yes and the business needs reputation management badly.

Also, reputation management can also be used for new businesses which are just starting to take a jumpstart.

Or maybe they don't give a Dayum!

Seriously....when a Restaurant is doing a gang-buster business....and they get negative reviews from GOOGLE MAPS...what do they care?

If they are booked with few tables open....and weekends are packed....they KNOW they are doing something right. Afterall...there are few if any businesses that have 100% positive ratings. People are tough to please.

Most people who give reviews...only give negative reviews. Those that are happy...don't go and write a positive review on Google Maps. (they already know the location)...and UNLESS THEY ARE BEING compensated....won't TAKE THE TIME to sit and write a Positive review (human nature).

I guess it depends on the biz owner. If I knew that people were talking shit about my business and saying that I sucked or hat rotten food or whatever I would be mortified, but I think most people these days probably don't care if they do a good job or not sadly.


People will give a positive review, but you have to ask them when they are fired up (after receiving good service). I think it's a very wise idea to simply ask these people for a review because the people who are pissed off will definitely leave more reviews.


As for why they should care? A business owner should care about negative reviews because polls show that their potential customers ARE reading them and they ARE listening to what others have to say.


I know I am not alone in deciding against going somewhere because of bad reviews. I always look at reviews and if 5 people are saying "don't go here the food sucks etc..) then guess what...I'm not going.


Here is an actual survey, not something I made up that shows what people think about online reviews. If a business owner gets this information and decides they still don't care about reviews, then in my opinion they are stupid assholes.

Local restaurants don't get that many costumers from online reviews. It are probably many locals going there and everyone in town knows how good the restaurant is from their friends experience. They do not look it up on the internet.

If you live in a big city and are looking for a restaurant, you are more likely to use the internet to find something good. This also applies to tourists. If your city has a lot of tourism, they will search online for reviews.

So it just depends on which costumers it's luring to the restaurant.

I think you're looking at this wrong. You don't look at one business - you look at dozens. You want to deal with mass statistics, because if you're looking at only one business, chances are VERY good that you'll be turned down, and you'll have no business. Approach dozens of businesses, and know that most will turn you down. But some won't.
Additionally, it's your job as a salesman to convince somebody that they need your services. You aren't looking for businesses who are looking for your services. You're looking for businesses. More importantly, businesses who you think you can sell your services to.
