I have a YouTube video ranked really poorly on YouTube sitting somewhere on page 11-12 for a very very competitive keyword. I am going to feed it with social signals and see the outcome also keeping you guys informed on the effects.

I will be monitoring the ranking on YouTube, Google and Yahoo using the Rank Tracker software by link assistant.

Just a little experiment, hopefully it will help a few of you ;)

If you have any experience with ranking videos to page 1 of YouTube using social backlinks feel free to contribute!

Read up on this case study I did last year. Bottom line is, social signals work. The results may not be permanent but they can be achieved. I have no experience with ranking YouTube videos, however.
 
They work, I know I beat out aged authority sites with a 3 month old site for competitive kws in my niche using signals.

Before the naysayers come in I will say that I have seen evidence that they work, even if for a short time. My prior employer works with MAJOR universities in the US and has a huge budget, therefore almost every week there are sales calls that try to pitch a new product to us.

One had to do with social signals and the company was selling some sort of social signal service or software, anyway based on their testing the found improvements in rankings due to twitter mentions and retweets. Now what is NOT clear is if the ranking improved due to the tweet or did the tweet lead to someone creating a backlink on the site.

That part was unanswered but on the surface it did appear that social helps
 
I have found spamming a youtube video on twitter is not the way forward, my video dropped out of the youtube search for keyword! However getting retweets helped a lot!

Will keep this thread updated on my findings, stay tuned.
 
There was an agency in the UK a few months back that got on page 1 for [SEO] just by using retweets (I'm talking 10's thousands).

However, they would drop off until they did another tweet, which ties in with the above theory that social signal velocity "drops off".

You can't really know for sure though, I was at BrightonSEO this year (UK SEO Conference) and an ex-Googler actually said that Social Signals don't count for much when ranking a site.
 
Because it's people naturally linking to you because of the signals that improve rankings not the actual signal but that's a catch 22 really.

You also need Youtube Social Signals, you know - likes, favorites, tons of comments, and subscribers. These can all be achieved with automation tools, it's up to you to find them. (;

Social signals/backlinks really do have an effect!

Yep, I can second this statement. I have
found social signals across multiple platforms
to be a necessary part of any SEO campaign.

My advice: If you are making a "Adsense Channel" Create a High Quality Facebook and Twitter Page.

Use Imacros to gain loads of points on AMF and YLH
1. Do a Retweet BLAST on the video with YLH.
2. Do a Share and Like BLAST with YLH
*I'm Talking 3000+ retweets/tweets and shares/post shares for the video, and 5000+ likes.

3. Use AMF to dripfeed, you can't do this with YLH.
So do something like 200 retweets/tweets a day, 200 shares/post shares a day and 200 likes a day.

4. Whist doing the dripfeed add backlinks, auto approved blog comments work for this.
So 10 backlinks a day PER keyword so 10 keywords= 100 backlinks a day.

You should end up up with something like this after 1 month.

1. YLH BLAST.
2A. Daily dripfeed.
2B. Daily backlinks.

After 1 month = 9000 retweet/tweets 9000 post shares/shares 11,000 likes and 3000 backlinks.
 
if you have a relatively new video with low competition and you share in 100 times via facebook and 100 times via Twitter tweets on AMF does it have effect or do you really need to have at least 1000 shares and tweets ?
 
New videos have instant results with facebook shares and youtube views/likes/comments - doesn't have to be that many, less than a hundred will do to get to first page - but it needs to be maintained, that's the problem.

It's getting more and more time consuming to rank videos and keep them there. There should be a gig for this. ;)
 
You just gave me an idea for a gig mrbelvedere. If I would offer like for example 100 facebook shares and 100 tweets for 5 dollar for a youtube video, unlimited times would there be demand for such a thing or is this already saturated on Fiverr ?
 
People offer 500 shares and likes for $5 Don't think offering 100 will be a good idea..
 
No, you would have to mix it up: I would REALLY like to have a gig like this: 300 youtube views, 10 likes, 5 custom comments, 5 youtube shares, 40 facebook shares. You can do this easily for free, but the time saved would be worth 5$.
 
Hmm ok interesting, will make this happen ! Although Twitter tweets with video links are very productive nowadays (look top left when browsing twitter tweets for a specific niche and you will see the top videos all because of tweets)

quick question : how can you give prove to your customers that you delivered the facebook shares/tweets besides making a screenshot ? Most will think it's a scam.

Ok, add some tweets to the cocktail, all the better! :)

Most facebook like/share providers send you a screenshot before starting the procedure.
