What are your thoughts on selling invites?

I did a bit of googling and browsed 3 of the invite selling sites that show up in the top results, then I did some searches on those sites themselves. There's a bunch of threads on Reddit and other places about InviteHawk in particular, calling it a scam, and I tend to believe them. If you think about it logically, who's a seller gonna complain to, since they got scammed doing something they weren't supposed to in the first place? Who's a buyer gonna complain to? That means that someone running an invite selling site can pretty much do as they please.

To add to this, it's a tabu subject to talk about, so information is sparse. On most any discussion board, if you bring up the subject like I'm doing here, you're gonna be put down quick by everyone there. It's seen as dishonest, not in the spirit of torrent sites, etc. Most people wouldn't bring it up for fear of getting a bad reputation.

Well, whatever. I'm not looking to steal from or scam anyone, and I got the invites after years of seeding and KW of power consumed. Also, it appears to go for a pretty penny---upward of 300 dollars for an invite, if those sites are to be believed. I think they inflate their prices liberally, but still, even a third of that price would help me pay some bills.

So, I guess the point of this thread is to ask for some advice about where I could go to sell it without getting scammed or banned myself. It's a two-edged sword, in a way: if I reveal too much info about my account or send the invite first, the person I'm dealing with could turn out to be a mod of the torrent site and ban me. If I ask for money first, the other person has no way of knowing that I'm not gonna scam them.

Gray market is basically built on asymmetric risk and zero real recourse. Because invite selling usually violates the rules of the communities involved, neither side is truly protected, which is why scams thrive and why reputation-based enforcement barely exists. Sites that act as “middlemen” often have every incentive to favor themselves, since sellers and buyers can’t realistically complain without admitting they broke the rules

There isn’t really a “safe” public marketplace for this, because safety would require transparency and transparency is exactly what gets people banned. So your instinct to be cautious is the right one, and honestly, that tension you’re feeling is the core reason this market never really becomes legitimate or reliable

ps.
Don't go with playerup, I have bad experience with them

Nicely phrased, and in line with my thinking. Thanks for the reply!

You don't need torrents. YOu can build your own software, or use existing open soruce for anything of importance and money making. There are lots of github repos. If you use a pirate torrent, you run the risk of viruses. I had one from just a prince discography, lol Swore i'd never use them again.
