    Hi bhw,

I am looking to create a SEO web application particularly focusing on performance tracking like:

    1. Check website rankings in Google/Bing against specific keywords
    2. Graphs and reports to provide visual representation of rankings over time
    3. Report export of all key metrics in PFD/Word - can be used for client reporting
    4. Backlink checker
    5. Index checker
    6. Traffic/visitor stats
    7. Notifications - e.g. rule - email me when my website reaches in the top 10 for x keyword
    8. Automated reporting

What I am trying to establish with this thread is feedback on the tools you use that provide these services. Any answers to the following questions would be appreciated (even if they are one word answers).

    • What SEO software are you using today?
    • Out of the 8 features listed above what is the most important to you?
    • What is most important area of your SEO business and is there any pain points associated with that activity?
    • What are the parts that you find cumbersome and time consuming?
    • Are there any other features you would like to see?

I am looking to build the first version with one or features mentioned above. The features will be determined by you telling me what is the most important feature.

If anyone is interested testing the first version let me know and we can chat further.

    Thanks,
    Zoheb.

Thanks for all those that have sent me PMs it has been really useful.

Collating the feedback so far - I have seen a recurring theme.

All the "all in one" SEO software solutions have an expensive monthly fee and not everyone requires all the features.

The feedback tells me that people want to know what COMMON backlinks their competitors have.

Would something like this be useful:

    1) The user inserts a keyword e.g. dog training

    2) The web application will then scrape the the top ten google.com URLs for the keyword

    3) For each of the 10 URLs it will search for the top backlinks they have.

    4) It will output all the backlinks and group all common backlinks (same URL) together.

    I would appreciate the feedback.

Not sure why the text was in a different colour - have pasted it again.

What you describe is basically possible with the Link Research Tools. But they are very expensive though.
