What are your favorite visual tools for breaking down projects?

I've been drawing on Paint.net the past two weeks to try and make hierarchical structure and categorization of post types more digestible...

it ain't easy having a brain that makes its own noises, especially when you're trying to build out a platform

Have you guys used the likes of flowcharts or Figma to help guide yourself down a winding road of fear and suspense?

I've tried Word documents but the words ain't wording when the time comes, or they're outdated when the challenge arises...

I’ve found Creately - a https://creately.com/ really useful for breaking down projects visually—its templates make mapping things out quick and clear.

I use Notion with simple tables and toggle lists, it’s more visual than Word but still easy. For structure, I like Whimsical or even pen and paper sometimes.

I know how messed up your mind can be when you try to get organized, it happened for me too. I use Figma to slice projects into small pieces. I make a simple drawing of a map, throw some colored boxes in for different sections, and tinker with auto-layout until I feel okay. Thinking can be messy but it’s satisfying to drag lines between your shapes and watch your thoughts get clean. When I need something looser, I wade into Miro, sticky notes, freehand arrows, even a dumb GIF, so I can giggle at the ideas around like they’re on a real board. And there are times when I get on a Zoom whiteboard and just sketch it all out. That's what I do in similar situations.

I just use the built-in memo app on my system for flowcharts—for example, when I organized an entire book before.

Sometimes visual thinking cuts through the noise better than words ever can. I've found tools like Figma or Whimsical super helpful for mapping ideas when my brain refuses to follow a straight line.

Figma is where most of my ideas take shape. Deep thoughts and long stares.
