What are your experiences with a BOSS

This happened to me OP and all I can say is don't take it sitting down.

Where I used to work, a senior manager for eCommerce was employed. Everything was cool until one day, about 2 weeks into his employment I was outside with him having a smoke with him. Later that afternoon, I was minding my own business when out of nowhere he starts to lay into me. Agressively! Wtf! Everything was perfectly normal like an hour ago.

The abuse started getting worse (and often with physically threatenting demeanor to match) - often putting words in my mouth about how I fucked up 'x,y or z' task which I knew was utter nonsense, as I was doing everything right but he wanted to warp things to his own liking to make me look bad (which i'm guessing he would blame on me too if it hurt performance). I am quite and have respect for company time. I just wanted to get on with my work but he'd go out of his way to make life as difficult as possible.

I thought I had entered the twilight zone couldn't figure out why he was suddenly being an asshole then it hit me, mid-morning before it all started there was a wonderfully good-looking woman who approached us during the smoke break, who has giving me the eyes and wanted to talk to me, much to his dismay as much as he tried to chime in, she looked at him like he was a piece of shit. I caught a sense of fury in his eyes which I igored as I had much on my mind.

Then I started noticing the trend of him becoming hyper aggressive everytime one of the prettier employees was present. I was right!

This contnued eg if there was a pretty customer he would go out of his way to try and make it a thoroughly ostracizing experience for me just so all the women in the vicinity who was the 'man in charge' to the point where I felt uncomfortable dealing or even approaching the pretty ladies, either staff or customers. I was only 18/19 and lived a sheltered life till then so didn't know how to respond to any of this.
He was an ugly, spiteful man (I think he was like 45 or something). I don't like to judge a book by its cover but in this case I will say he was ugly, bald fat and you could smell him before you could see him, if that says anything about how bad he actually smelled! He even managed to make his job ugly.

Then it happened in other places I worked after. All the guys are your best friend cause you are a 'swell guy' until you get much more female attention than them. Then it all goes out of the window. Then I realised when it comes to this kind of thing, guys are even bigger bitches than girls.
Don't get me wrong, i've never really bee interest in being 'the ladies mans' not. I was a mild-mannered geek that wanted to work hard and keep to myself but how is it anyone's fault if a lady finds someone more compelling than you?? They like what they like. As I matured I began to realise that most women are too intimidated to to liase with good looking guys anyway.

I was I matured just a little more I began to handle myself a lot better and learned that as an easy going and sensible person, it doesn't mean in any kind of soured social reception, that the was anything 'wrong' with me but rather that it's the world that is often a loathsome place.

Couldn't agree with you more. Males are bigger "Cock Blockers" than females!

Absolutely and i've cut perfectly good 'friends' out of my life because of this kind of behaviour more because if anyone grown man feels it's appropriate to act this way (and sadly there are too many) especially with people they're supposed to like and trust - be in league with then they have bigger problems than being the downer on a night out, that they should sit down and try to work through rather than drag anyone else down or make friends with other people who like to roll around in their own filth too, see how far that gets them in life.

As for OP - some people here might be saying that you should 'take it like a man'. Well this isn't the 1930s and I mean these kind of things tend to have a way of balancing themselves out. If an employee back then was verablly or physically abusive then there were probably a good half a dozen way you could get back at them and get a way with that'd probably get you a prison sentence in this day and age - especailly since if push came to shove most bullies today couldn't actually fight their way out of a wet paper bag. So consequently, there is absolutely no need to put up with worplace harassment either. Absolutely none.

What do you mean by that in corporate culture?

I thought females are the ones gaining sympathy?

I didn't like the fact that my boss kept changing my work OBJECTIVES on an almost daily basis.

I was a Chief Operations Officer of a small California company.

Pay was awesome but work was chaotic and lacked focus.

I TOOK OWNERSHIP OF MY LIFE AND MY FUTURE so...

I quit.

That was the last job I held.

I had 2 IRL bosses - one was a dream boss that really didn't take anything seriously if everything is done properly and on time. She did require employees to commit to learning the job and staying with the company long term so I quit pretty early not to waste her time.

The second one appeared to be pretty chill initially. He liked to joke around and have fun, didn't mind if you were late, didn't mind if you had no previous skills, but if things were not going the way he wanted, he would literally bully his employees so I got the fuck out of there petty quick too. Looking back I wish I stuck around a bit longer because when he wasn't bullying anyone he gave out pretty good life advice.

I don't mind having a boss point me in the right direction, and I'm really not the type to say I'll never have a boss in life, someone has to lead the way. But what I'll never do for a very long time is work offline. It's online/remote or nothing, no matter the cost.

I think being required to show up for work on exact time, dealing with traffic, having to follow the office culture and their bullshit and deal with customers in person is what makes many people here say 'never again', not the idea of having to listen to a higher-up, that's just an ego thing.

I have seen various bosses and if there’s one thing I have learnt is the problem is not in him, it’s within us we don’t love ourselves, we feel unworthy and we always feel bosses will be bad and that’s what happens. Change your thoughts about yourself and then see how things change around you. I did leave my jobs when I felt I had nothing to teach, but I yet made my boss pay me happily and he has never paid his interns so work on your tactics

Just remember, being financially free is merely the first step into becoming your own boss. ;)

just need be respect this is first and if to say abt money then maybe all of us need push to the boss sometimes , depends on situation.

Report him?!

I can't say I was bullied, but I was heavily disrespected. I just quit, and I forced them to cut my deal with them. They were scared cuz they issued me 1-week warning to stop being late to work (3 min late over 5 days). And they issued me 30% CUT on payments for 3 months the next day. I could literally go and sue them over that.

As i said before in life, id rather be hungry, than being disrespected and underpaid.

My experience , is more bias in the management. I have colleague also quit in the end. Sometimes think back wasting your time and hardwork for year and don't get recongnise whereas others do a bit and get recongise etc .

I not sure western working culture , but i like is come to work is really work , get the job done fast and go back home , whereas Asia working culture , talk a lot never get the work done fast and this is why got overtime

I think that if you feel bullied by your boss, you should stay for a bit longer, save up and move on. Leave him.
