Google's old keyword tool used to work well for me. What I'm getting now.. this keyword planner... it's not nearly as useful. They want to show me search popularity and that's it. The old tool would show me estimated search volume as well as how many search results were connected with certain keywords, so I could easily find keywords people were searching for that would low competition because nobody was filling the need.

What tools are you guys using for keyword research?

Ahrefs, SEMRush, Keywords Everywhere and manual checking first page, as @tglr said.

SEMrush is the best Tool for Keyword research I think, Bcz I am using that and that is enough for me

If you have the budget then go for Ahrefs and KWFinder and use the free tool Keyword Shitter to generate loads of longtails. Anrefs is great for exporting competitor keywords. You can literally pick a big authority site in your niche. Click on organic keywords then search filter for the words best, top, review etc. And export all the results. Upload them to KWfinder.

Manual serp checking is also super important. One quick conoecompet checker you can use is Google search operator.

Do a search for intitle:"your Keyword" (with quotes and make sure not to leave a space between : and "). It will show you the number of pages with your keyword in the title. Do this for long tails like best toaster under 200. You're looking for the lowest number possible. This is a quick and free way of competition analysis which you should add to manual serp check and KW tool scores (use scores as a filter not as an end list). I wrote a posts on search operators here.
