Hi,
Hope you are doing well.

I see here in forum people a lot mention Tier backlinks, what are they?
Can someone explain in detail what are Tier 1, 2 and 3 backlinks? And strategy how to build them?

Thank you!

Tiered backlinks involve creating links in layers. Tier 1 links are built to direct to your website, while Tier 2 links support Tier 1 links and enhance their authority. This strategy aims to enhance the strength of your primary backlinks in order to achieve improved SEO outcomes.

tier 1 are links that point directly to your site
tier 2 are links that point to tier 1 links
tier 3 are links that point to tier 2 links
etc...

And strategy how to build them?
well, you'll obviously want the best and most powerful links you can get to point directly to your site so you can reap their entire power (authority) directly.

The best and most powerful links (so, tier 1) are usually:

- quality PBNs
- quality guest posts
- quality niche edits
- quality PDF submissions
- quality forum links
- quality edu / gov links
- quality social media links

The tier 2 links can be anything you want (including the aforementioned quality links if you wish to save these / some of them for tier 2), and are usually used to power up the tier 1 links by infusing extra authority into them. Or, some people use tier 2 links to simply index tier 1 links when the tier 1 links - despite of their quality - for some reason won't index.

Tier 2 can be anything you want, like I said, but they're usually these:

- cheap PBNs
- web 2.0s
- profile links (some people also call these foundation links), which are basically accounts you create on sites like Issuu, Soundcloud, Disqus, Adobe, etc... Basically, accounts you create on high authority sites and then you edit your profile on those sites and insert a link back to your site in the profile
- article directories (although, these can also be used as tier 3 links since they're so useless nowadays)
etc..

Tiered link building is not always necessary, but it's usually employed to rank extremely competitive keywords where one layer of links won't cut it, so you need to power those links up with more authority (obtained from tier 2 which - depending on your needs - can include those weak links I've mentioned in tier 2, or can very well include another batch of quality links that you find in tier 1)

Or, some people use tier 2 links to simply index tier 1 links when the tier 1 links - despite of their quality - for some reason won't index.
Can you explain this more?

Can i use all contextual link insertion backlinks with keywords from websites for Tier link building?
And in which Tier should i put anchor keywords?

I will add that in my opinion, only Tier2 makes sense and realistically translates into SEO results. Tier 3,4,5 - rather do not make sense, I have not seen in my tests their impact.
For guest post or sponsored publication, it is always a good idea to build backlinks for example from PBN.

stop asking people to spoon feed you,
there's already plenty of information shared online, use google/youtube/bhw-search and you'll find plenty

sometimes good links take longer to index and people can't be bothered to wait so they point other links at them to force the googlebot to crawl the links and hopefully discover and index the stubborn ones.

for tier 1 links it's actually a good idea to use exact match anchors in your backlinks (I assume that's what you're asking about), but as I said in a previous reply, don't abuse the anchors. Use them, but use them smartly and safely (not going to repeat how to do that, all over again, so please refer to my previous reply on this)

For tiers 2 and upwards I don't think the anchors matters that much beside still not abusing them (like, having 50-60% of the same anchor, regardless of its type).

And in which Tier should i put anchor keywords?
in tier 1 (again, tier 1 = links that point directly to your site) they're the most useful, so I would say there....

Tier 1 are backlinks that point to your site. Tier 2 point to tier 1 and tier 3 to 2. These are used to enhance the authority of a website.

Hi,
Hope you are doing well.

I didn't see it mentioned, it probably was and I just missed it, but niche relevancy in your backlinks is very important.

Your backlinks, the foundational tier 1 backlinks (your most important set), need to be from places that are within your niche. So, if you have a pets website then high quality pets blogs (and pets stores if you can contact them).

Or if your money site is about Fitness, then other Fitness blogs/websites/sites with high metrics.

Tier 1 is the link that directly points to your site.
tier 2 are links that directly point to tier 1 links
tier 3 are links that directly point to tier 2 links
Simple.

Tier 1 links point directly to your main site — these are the highest quality links (guest posts, niche edits, etc.) that you'd want indexed. Tier 2 links support those Tier 1 links and add some authority without linking directly to your site. These can be things like Web 2.0s, forum posts, or social bookmarks. Tier 3 backlinks are low-quality links pointing to your Tier 2 links

Can you explain this more? Then I can give some tips

Suppose you built a backlink for your site name backlink A. Now if you make backlinks for backlink a further, these are tier 2 backlinks.

Tier backlinks are created by creating multiple levels of link structure and ranking them by link quality: Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3

Tier 1 backlinks are high-quality, authoritative links directly pointing to your money site (e.g., guest posts on niche blogs). Tier 2 backlinks point to your Tier 1 links (e.g., from articles or web 2.0 sites), supporting their authority. Tier 3 backlinks link to Tier 2 (e.g., forum posts, social signals). The strategy: Focus on high-quality Tier 1 links first, then build Tier 2 and 3 links to reinforce and amplify their impact.
