maybe risk of getting scammed. or you got ur business hacked. lol. but seriously, you can treat this as a learning platform..if you manage to twist something, then you are half way there.

Your question is a bit too general. There are so many different levels of Blackhatting.
Basically, knowledge is important when it comes to blackhatting. If you know the possible pitfalls and repercussions, and if you can figure out ways to work around them, then the risks are lower than they are for someone who recklessly and blindly tries blackhatting without any background knowledge.

Yeah, I realised that and adding what BH I am doing in another comment which is thin affilate sites with scarpebox etc.
I am only really into this as it's quick and simple but I am keen to learn about what can happen. I don't care if google bans my sites as I have several white hat stuff on the go.

as Wiz said knowledge is most important when it comes to BH, depending on your location and your level of BH there is a % risk of legal repercussions but if you take basic measures I wouldn't worry about it from that point of view, cheers

As long as you aren't a damn idiot and don't go freakin nuts with all the tools and software available, you will be fine.
Think of your BH plan as a business plan. Draw up what you want to do, then execute.
If you are looking for the quick way out, then don't bother. Because you will make a mistake and screw yourself over. Blackhat in moderation along with whitehat techniques is the way to go.
I would love to build an honest, reputable 100% whitehat site with loyal visitors anyday over a BH site, but that's just me.
But really, do you think any website (even the big name sites) don't use SOME kind of BH technique? You would be out of your damn mind to say not.

It depends on what kind of BH you plan to have. If you are doing BH to drive traffic to your website. There is a risk of getting caught from search engine but this is rare if you know what you are doing...
If you are doing BH to generate the lead for cpa or to make visitor click on your adsense... then the risk is huge and you should be extra attentive

You know, there really is only one type of whitehat site, and that is the site that goes viral and gets all its traffic and backlinks naturally. So assuming one has not succeeded in going viral, there are only levels of gray to black in terms of site promotion. Some gray hat paths are longer lived, some black hat paths are for quick money and guaranteed to eventually burnout. It is really your choice on which to use. But you have to do something or your beautiful site will never be seen by anybody, unless by some miracle it goes viral.
A lot of what is described on this forum is not that dangerous, assuming you have educated yourself. It is sort of like learning how to drive. If you don't learn well, you are going to crash. If you don't learn at all, which seems to be a common approach by many of the newbies, the chances of crashing are 100%.
Learn your craft. It will help you for decades to come.
Blackhat SEO has really no risks, other than getting your site deindexed by the search engines. The risk of your site getting deindexed varies by how blackhat you go (Xrumer blasts can get your site deindexed pretty efficiently if you don't know what your doing).
But blackhat money makers can have moderate to high risks. One example is selling replicas on ebay, this constitutes fraud which has a nice court date and potential prison time. Another example is cookie stuffing, also fraudulent (just ask the owners of DigitalPoint).
