I am planning to buy PBN links for my 5-month-old website that is now getting 100 views per day. Is this the right time to buy PBN links? What risks are associated with this type of link building?

5 months is old enough for PBN links. I've bought them for brand new sites and not had any problems.
Use ahrefs to check backlinks for every domain in the PBN. make sure they're not spammy. if the backlinks look clean you probably won't have any issues.

Go for rental homepage PBNs with records of performance, particularly ones the sellers know what they doing.
The major risk with PBN is when they're not private and are public, this makes it easy for them to be traced.
I would also recommend you send them to the homepage and specific page that are close to the top position of Google.
BTW, no serious PBN seller would give you access to their list of domains to check. If they are able to provide the list to you, it means they also show it to other buyers. That makes them public and not private blog networks.

It's OK to buy PBN links but... if you are planning to pay $20 for 10 links then those links are not good even for old sites.

The risk is honestly the same, might be a little more dangerous.
Since afterall you are manipulating your SERPs.
Think of it this way, a huge majority of those PBNs will contain a link on different pages and what not are basically an paid advertisement link by either you, or someone else.
If the pbn owners leak footprints, or don't cover their footprints well, you are exposed, among with everyone else. If other people placed real shitty t3 links or whatever spam, the site gets affected, so would you.
Obviously, alot of PBNs don't give a shit either since its more or less cheap to set up, spam to death, and set up a new one, hence why you will see it overspammed to death with every god damn niche under i'ts site from health to finance to games to whatever you think of, a total link farm, making that site worthless as shit.
On the other hand true PBN owners, which are rare but they do exist, are very careful with their sites and links the OBL on their sites and strictly keep their sites to it's 1 niche. <- these are the PBNs that you would want to get and would get real results.
Vs Guest Post/Niche Edits
These are supposed to be REAL money sites, real sites that have some "advertised paid links" mixed in between them.
these are usually more expensive as outreach usually need to happen but risk are alot more minimal as they are actual established sites.
Also, since it's more or less a brand new site (5 months or so) have you optimized your website for on-site SEO yet before you look towards doing off-site SEO.

Yes, I have done on-site SEO. I actually hired a guy from my friends list and he suggested that it was okay to go for the next step, so I am trying to get good link building options.

Rule of thumb
If you pay paying pennies per link
chances are, it's most likely a farm.
Perfect time to get backlinks with PBN. But make sure the following metrics are with the PBN.
1. Spam Score.
2. Domain authority.
3. Reffereing domains of the blogs.
4. Backlinks of the blogs.
5. Ip address
6. Quality themes and etc.

Guest posts are generally safer than PBN links but if your PBN websites look legit, have good readable content, and have decent metrics without spam, go for it.

I planned on buying pbn links to my site but after reading some horror case studies of PBN links gone wrong I am not planning to use any at the moment.
Maybe I'll make my own network in the future but never using third party PBN ever.

Yes, It may the right time to buy PBN links. If you use PBN links on your site in the initial state, Google may ban your site or penalize it. So, you can concentrate methods of outreach and to build high-quality backlinks via guest blogging. If you built with quality Guest posts backlinks and then mixup it with the PBN links look natural & diversified to the Search Engine. Also, make sure your PBN links are not too spammy.

Pbns are safe mate , google does not support them but they are still safe with they are quality ones .

It may leave footprints if they're hosted on the same IP address. It would also be helpful if each blog had a unique theme. Ask the seller to drip-feed the links as well. It's very important to check the backlink profile and metrics of the website to see if they have been manipulated in any way.

It depends on your budget. If you spending only $5 for this, then it's ok. But if you spending $10+ then you should not buy it.

PBN links aren't white hat SEO. So you should expect the same risks that are expected with Black Hat seo.
