What are Meta Keywords?

I searched GG and this is an answer for you. "Meta Keywords are a specific type of meta tag that appear in the HTML code of a Web page and help tell search engines what the topic of the page is. "

It's a HTML meta tag. It was used to tell search engines what keywords a page was relevant for.

Google no longer uses it - but Bing might. So it would be good to have it in your HTML code. But you'll want to avoid over-optimizing this tag. Use each important keyword only once - and not more than that. And you wouldn't want to use keywords that are not on your page.

If a site abuses this tag, it's very likely to be a spam site set up by an amateur ... and search engines might use this tag as a signal to identify spam sites.

I do keep it in my code. Couple of reasons. Number one, most customers will not believe that Google is not using this tag. Second, it is easy for some tools to pic up the keywords/phrases you are focusing on and use it to run your reports. Also easy for you to see what keywords/phrases you are using for the site w/ a quick right click and view source.
your description meta is very very important.
