What are Differences between managed server and unmanaged server

Also can someone tell me if vps hosting and unlimited hosting are the same? Can I run bots and softwares on unlimited hosting?

managed hosting : usually, you have cPanel , and the hosting take care about security/update/...
unmanaged hosting : you need to make your own security.... usually, you need to have IT skills.

Managed Server are servers that are fully managed and runs fine without downtime. Servers security, Update and lots more are be take care of....While Unmanaged Server are Server you run on your own. you do most of the work your self. Some company that sells unmanaged servers some time help in some issue. If you are looking for a fully Managed and Unmanaged servers you can try hostyoufast.com. there unmanaged servers are partial managed for clients some time when issue comes up. Support is fast.
I will advice you go for a VPS since you want to run bots and softwares....The Vps will server you well.

unmanage server is you control support your self. and manage in control support on server company hands.
Unmanaged servers are way too headache, if you don't have a guy to take care of security don't go with unmananged server, as Unmanaged server have no-options of automatic backup, no options of automatic updation, no options of tight security, You have to do everything manually from Installing a site to Securing and take caring of the site.
Managed server are way too good (though if you have good budget), A company where you purchase will take care of everything for you from Security to backup, and in case if your site got hacked you can blame them too

Menaged servers means that you recive full support on the server that you have purchased which includes software installation help, server maintenance and support.
Unmanaged servers on the other hand means that you will receive your server and what you do after that is your business.
You can get an unmanaged server if you know your way around servers, and all you need is IPMI/KVM access to the server so you can solve your own problems.

First of all , lets make it clear and I wish that all of you will understand it.
There is no such animal called "unlimited or unmetered" . There is always limits and if you exceed the regular fair use or normal use you will be asked to move to higher plan or VPS. Unlimited = Marketing trick
The difference of managed and unmanaged was explained fairly well from the previous posters. However depending on the hosting provider you still get support even on unmanaged servers.
For reference we are offering semi-managed and fully managed offshore vps servers . With semi-managed we deliver fully configured and secured VPS with pre-installed Control Panel (Paid or Free options).
With semi-managed we are monitoring your server uptime and also protect it from DDOS up to 500Gbps. We however are not keeping upgraded the VPS for you .
With managed VPS however you are still getting only technical support that DON'T cover isseus with 3rd party scripts. Also with managed vps you are receiving free daily / weekly backups of your VPS.
Managed VPS hosting is x2++ of the semi-managed vps prices, it may or may not include cPanel license. Now if hosting provider provide you with cPanel that doesn't automaticaly means that is fully managed. You better contact the hosting provider prior purchasing. Also would be nice if you can find out if the provider is not reseller .

- In can of any issue you can contact them and they will fix the issue without asking for additional money.
- Server upgradeds, patching all those task should be hand by them.
