What are business.site backlinks?

I am doing research on some competitions to see how I can build out some more backlinks for my local business.

When looking through their backlinks I see these links a lot https://business-name.business.site

These look to be linked to the GMB somehow because a google sites site has the domain https://sites.google.com/view/business-name

How can I create business.site sites for my GMB?

Google Business Profile has the ability for you to create a free .business.site if you do not have a website on your listing.

So if you go to the website section, and remove your website, you'll be allowed to make this free website.

You make it, publish it, and index it. Once it's indexed, replace that .business.site with your actual site again.

You'll still have this strong backlink from Google indexed in the organic search. There are other cool things you can do with this after but that's a bit secret.

Removing the website and creating a website through that does not work. I figured out a clever way to make a .business.site :)
 
With Google Business Profile you can create a free yourname.business.site link.
 
Yeah, those are GMB site links. They're auto-generated when you set up your GMB listing. Super useful for local SEO as they're directly tied to Google's ecosystem. Just hop into your GMB dashboard, there's a 'Website' section where you can create and customize your business.site page.
