what are bitcoins?

I have read about bitcoins a short while ago and i couldn't really define what it is or how people make money with it . Now it gets more popular and i see alot of right hand side facebook ads about mining bitcoins and so on . If someone could explain what they are in details so that my humble mind can understand how i can make money with them i would be so grateful.

It's a p2p value, it can't be closed by gov or such, because we are creating it and making it live. You can mine them with your own pc or buy other PCs for mining. Each computer mines in avg. 30 megahashes / second. But I suggest not to mine, but do forex - buy bitcoins and sell if the price of it increased.
You can find calculator on the Internet and count how much will you earn with mining.

what does it mean to " mine " bitcoins , and what is the official site for them? sorry for bothering you but it drives me crazy !
 
Gone reading a lil bit more and i have a question , i think will ask the unfigured out questions here on this thread to shorten the way if you dont mind.
Q : On what basis do i obtain coins by mining , is it random like i could get them on first second or are they are only gained by spending much PC resources for the process?
 
You get a coin 50p a pound will do and you cut it up into bits. There you go bitcoins.
 
I have read tons and tons of info and I still do not understand how it became worth real money.

Somewhere along the lines someone had to put up funds to make it worth anything right?
It just doesn't make sense to me how something worth nothing is now worth $$$.

Where did the first $$$ come in to make bitcoins worth $$$?

cryptography is what gives it it's value. the same way how instagram and twitter are worth nothing but the amount of users and its technology is what gives it value.

Yah, but the advertisers is what gives websites their value, w/o that, the users don't mean anything.

This is driving me nuts trying to understand it.

Perhaps, advertisers is behind bitcoins as well, but someone had to place value onto the coins.
Someone had to invest money into this from the start, cant see how it could generate its own worth because in itself, it doesn't have value, as gold, silver etc does.
Even dirt has value to someone, but where did bitcoins get their value?

It is quite simple, nothing has value it is what people value it as that gives it its value.
 
I wonder what bitcoin solve. I saw a lot of peoples run their graphic cards to solve bitcoin but what is it? And also, if it success, who will get benefit from it expect bitcoin currency?
 
You can mine bitcoins in mining pools like: BTCGUILD, and have a wallet for bitcoin money in: blockchain or something like that.

But dont mine on your pc, better make a new pc with a brilliant video card and leave the miner there.
