what are best directories now?

    Well it depends on your niche. Most directories now have the no follow tag in place so they are worthless. DirJournal Web Directory and Yahoo are two I recommend. BOTW directory has the no follow tag so I am dropping them.

    It used to be popular to use directories like yahoo, DMOZ, BOTW. These days it's all about social influences and what looks natural to Google.

    I personally would not waste a single dollar on any directory.

    By the way BOTW does not use the no follow tag so am not sure why aakon7 is saying that.

    Thanks for that as I was scared for a moment. I spent a lot of money on BOTW. With all the penguin shit going on, I'm would not be surprised if some directories did start to use nofollow.

    To the OP, I use this list for my sites. If you want free listings, I would not even submit to web directories as your efforts are better spent elsewhere. Free directories come and go like the wind, but the better paid directories will be around a long time.
