What are article submission sites - in this context (image inside)?

Had a backlink vendor trying to sell me on some article submission sites - what on earth am I looking at here?

Do these work for anything, I think his angle is that they will boost my DA/DR but I'm not even sure they would do that unless I'm missing something?

they're not even article submission sites. Those sites usually have some DR (not that it matters, but still) and get some random traffic every now and then.

What you're seeing here looks like a personal network of blogs that this guy autoposts to (I find it hard to believe that he manually makes these garbage posts).

I used to use such backlinks as my tier 2, or tier 3 links to force indexation on my important tier 1 links, so you can pay $1 for a link like this if you want / need to juice up your tier 1 links. But otherwise I wouldn't point these links directly to my websites if you pored wax on me...

Thanks tazarbm, I assumed as much tbh - no clue why he was trying to pass them off as this when they are very clearly some kind of automated pbn.

Also, I should have probably mentioned earlier that - judging by these screenshots - the links themselves don't look bad. I mean, they're inserted naturally into the content, and the content itself is grammatically correct and makes sense. So, you would assume that they're quality links.

But nowadays google looks at way more stuff than the literacy of the content, and this is where my problems begin, because the sites look ugly (and google can "see" this too), each article on them also link out to other random sites (which screams "link farm" from kilometers away), and if we get more details I might be able to find more things that are dead giveaways of low quality links (like, these "blogs" being actually put on subdomains, which makes it bad since the links will all come from the same few RDs or IPs, which is not good)

So, for someone who is new to SEO, these links look like a great deal (especially if they're priced smartly to fool people into buying them), but - when you analyze the situation holistically (like google are doing) - you will know that these are low quality links that shouldn't be pointed directly at your main website (well, unless the website is a churn & burn one, in that case things are different, and if you can get 1000s of such links you might actually rank and bank with such a project for a few weeks before it tanks).

Anyway, as I said, if these links cost like $1 a pop (I genuinely wouldn't pay more for them, personally), you could use them as your tier 2 / tier 3 links to juice up / force indexation of your tier 1 links. But otherwise they're not worth wasting on your money sites
