What am I missing?!

I've decided to stop reading and reading and reading, a start doing (Learn by doing!). I'm launching my first campaign on Monday and I just wanted to see if anybody on the forums could shine some light on my thoughts so far.

I'm going be launching a blog that focuses on a certain album that's coming out in months to come. The blog will keep up on the news of the album. Anything that has to do with the album will be on the site. I'm planning to just monetize via Adsense. Are there any other ways to monetize this kind of site?

I've outlined basic steps of this campaign below. What do you guys think of the steps I've outlined? Am I missing anything?

    1. [*=1]Purchase domain and hosting (still debating where to purchase from)
[*=1]Install WordPress, Responsive Theme, and Plugins
[*=1]Publish privacy, tos, and contact page
[*=1]Start publishing as often as things are announced
[*=1]Create Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube
      [*=1]Boost fans, followers, subscribers, etc
[*=1]Wait for site to be indexed
      [*=1]Purchase link building campaigns
[*=1]From here I'm going to continue posting often and interacting via social media. I'm also going to learn how to build links so I could potentially do my own campaigns.

I plan to focus on social media. By interacting via Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. What do you guys think of that? Also, if I get large numbers on the the social accounts would it be smart to monetize them? Like using mylikes or something?

This is the basic gist of the steps I set for myself. Thanks to anybody who could help me out.

    All the best, TheeAriG

First thing I would recommend is don't choose a "upcoming album" niche. Why? Cos once the album is released, no one will care about your website or visit it, and all your hard work will have been for nothing..

Apart from that, technically you are on the right path. Good luck!

Hmm, okay. The album isn't going to be released for months. Would you still recommend switching to a better niche?

    TheeAriGrande,

Given that your main demographic is going to be fans of the artist or that music style, you might look into offering past albums, other albums in the genre, artist apparel, etc. through Amazon Affiliates. I think you can also affiliate with Ticketmaster to sell tickets for the artist.

It can be a good way to test things out maybe as a first experiment, if the competition is low. However, I would personally not choose something that will be obsolete in a few months. Its similar with for example exact match domains with iPhone4 in it.. very hot in the few months before the iphone 4 release, but now, I doubt any of them get any serious traffic.

It all depends if you see long term or short term. I personally prefer to focus on long term projects...

Okay, I see what you're saying. I'm doing this as more of a learning experience. I learn more when I actually carry out the process. After this I'm going to expand on my knowledge and then focus on long term things. Thanks for the advice!

These monetizing ideas are smart! I never would of thought of this! Maybe I should make my niche more artist specific. This would then be a long term niche if the site is focused on the artist.

Maybe... but the competition might be difficult for the artist but easier for the album. I'd do some keyword research to see where you would get most bang for your buck. Also, watch out if you're going to do an EMD for the album. You might run into copyright issues.

Alright, I'll do some research and see what the competition is like.
