Hi there,

I've uploaded a new testimonial style video for a medium competitive KW. There are 3 YT videos on the front page of Google with less views, comments, likes shares, no social signals and no optimised description tags. Also I cant find any significant backlinks or PR for these videos.

I've did the following to rank my video:

1. All on-page optimization (description, tags, etc etc)
2. High retention views, comments, subs, likes (2 dislikes), shares
3. Embedded on 200 blog posts.
4. Created another YouTube account with videos pointing to money video
5. Created Blogger account with same Username pointing to video. Blasted backlinks to Blogger page.
6. Build a safe 3 tier linkwheel of web 2.0 properties pointing to my YouTube video.

I am ranking strong #1 on YT, but am not even in the top 100 of Google yet. I am indexed for my keyword, when I type in my main keyword and apply the filter "in the last month" I am ranking number 1.

Would this just be a matter of time or should I just keep doing SEO for the video?

Thanks so much in advance for your help.

Is there any videos on the top 5 pages for your keyword
If not then you should not bother

There are three videos on the first page. All of them are less optimized, have less views, comments, likes and shares and they have no significant amount of backlinks. Also, They have all been created in the last 6 months.

YouTube videos are getting harder to rank lately. You used to be able to just blast a video and send views/likes to it and it would (most times) show up in Google within a short period of time, but I think you need to be more creative nowadays. Google caught on to the method of blasting videos with any type of link you want to, those days (I think) are gone. How long ago did you start linking to the video?

I also have a few videos ranking number 1 for some fairly competitive terms in YouTube by building links to them, but they haven't shown up in Google for a month now. Other videos I started building links to two weeks ago and they're page 1 of Google.

I think we need to start linking as you would for a website now

Yeah you are right. Thats why I've build a 3 tier linkwheel that is quite 'safe' I would say.

I've started linking to the video 1.5 to 2 weeks ago. By the way, it was just impatience on my side because I checked today and I am ranking 3th for both keywords in Google SERP.
