Ads are placed on the pages with the most traffic and yet I receive barely any clicks. What can be done here?

See the image below:

Thanks,

did you post the ads in a visible place? Change the ads colors

Yes, the ads are right next to highly engaged links (E.G. submit button). The color is the same as the website color scheme, you think images would do better?

what is your traffic source?

A large portion is direct traffic and the rest is from referrals.

My advice is:
- Change ads possitions and ads format - bg, font, colors.
- Look at targeted traffic.
- Use ads filters to choose the best ads for your site.

Hope this helps.
Write if there are some changes.

since the traffic is direct and refferals, are you 100% the traffic is targetted?
The % is too low for small mistakes, it's clear that something important is not fine. I suspect the traffic quality. Are you buying it from a trusable source?

To filter the ads might help but the % is still too low to be solved with the filter.

Keep it at text/image

Use custom channel to test/tweak the best placement

If the above dont solve tge problem i would look into the traffic source

Start a spreadsheet, and do 2 tests at a time, and then monitor their progress for a week. Once the week is up keep the best one. Then try another split test.

First test:

Color, adtype, ad size, ad position, (in no particular order)

Then if you can split test some of the working of your text, or your template.

Once you've done that try some other ideas that people suggest to.

In order to get traffic you must:

1. Create and write unique and fresh articles.
2. Social bookmarking
3. Article submission
4. Blogging
5. Blog Commenting
6. Press Release
7. Yahoo Answers
8. Directory Submission
9. Guest Posting
10. Video Creation
11. RSS Submission
12. Social Media

Thanks for the guidance folks.

Changed the text ads to image ads, revenue went up by 30%. :)

Going to leave it for a few days and see how it goes. Will update thread.

Smells like twitter traffic to me ..
