Fishing the drop off that runs 150km along the coastline of the Maldives. It was caught on a clump of nlyon threads, what they do is get about 1000 threads and tie them at one end. Then when the sailfish tries to spear the lure with its bill, it gets wrapped up in the threads. You see that yellow ball float thing in the corner? Thats the rod and reel... Its mad, they dont use rods here, they just drag the fucker in with brute force. It took 3 of us just over an hour to tire it out enough to get it on the boat. Im a 100% catch and release angler, but when we where trying to pull it on board, it started going ape shit and before I could say a word, one of the guys clubbed it over the head.
So we went to one of the small islands nearby for lunch and had a BBQ. Sailfish is delicious
Can't wait for the summer after seeing this, nothing like a fresh piece of fish on a beach BBQ while the sun sets with some beers! Hmmm, thanks for the motivation man.
Got 1 day left tomorrow. Up at 5am to catch the sunrise and do a couple of hours early morning trawling. Then heading back to Kuda Bandos for a few hours on the private beach, which is beyond paradise, its some next level awesomeness. Then about noon im heading for the jet skis, para sailing and surfing. I can only just about surf, and the waves here are huge, with tubes that run for over 300 meters, so I might be a little out of my depth. Not gonna stop me trying though
