I logged in to one of my WP installs today and was greeted with the message to upgrade to WP 4.0 Benny (Goodman)....

At first glance I am really impressed with the features of this update/version. In fact WP has been crying out for these new features for a long time now and it will make writing posts a much more pleasant experience.

The updates made to the 'media' section will make life so much easier which includes being to embed YT videos or Tweets and getting live previews rather than having to save a draft and then going to preview it. It makes editing a post that contains media SO much easier and I think that's where the emphasis lies with this update.

The embedded video doesn't work for me, lol :\

But in all seriousness, I always welcome new WP features and updates. I like what they've done with embeds especially.

Indeed Wordpress 4.0 is looking nice. Just installed it on some of my domains.
I like that you can now embed in your posts videos from ted, CollegeHumor, animoto and mixcloud music as well.
But beside that, I don't see any noteworthy improvements.

Yeah the latest addition of "finding the right plugin" is helpful

Yeah I didn't mention that in my original post but that is also another nice touch to this update. All in all the updates seem to be targeted at making WP more user friendly rather than them all being 'under the hood' changes.

Totally liking it, makes handling the media on a WP site of mine way easier and faster.

There are also some Minor API changes in Wordpress 4.0

- Wordpress is going older

Yupp saw that a few hours ago.. It's a pain in the ass to update all the blogs for my clients... kinda sucks for me

Is there not a WP plugin that can create a central control panel for updating all of the blogs that you manage?

If there isn't then there should be!!

yup obviously there are several scripts for that. The problem is the fact that almost all the blogs are hosted for different clients. This is the reason why i am preferring the auto installers these days

Awesome! I always thought they are just going to make some extremely minor changes which i might not even notice! now i am already looking forward to the next one!

I've found that being able to add in YT vids and seeing them live in the post as I continue to write it is really handy. Saves some time in that I don't have to keep previewing the post each time.

The other nice touch I like is that when you scroll down the page the editor box and buttons remains in view. This is great when you're writing longer posts that have videos and image in them.

With these and the plugin and media gallery improvements I think WP has really stepped up to the needs to WP users when it comes to being more user friendly.
