Did anyone else stay up to watch the landing of the Mars rover? Awesome event...

I'm amazed at how fast they can transmit images from Mars back to Earth.

Just was watching NASA channel myself , That's some pretty cool stuff . . .
It would be even cooler if they actually found some microbial life.

Ha! No kidding. I can't use Skype because my ATT DSL is so slow. It's the only option where I live though...

But I'm sure 2.5B would fix that.

You can't imagine how hard it was to get this thing not broken on Mars. It weights more than a ton!!

On board you have insane technology which seem to be extracted from a Sci FI movie.

Its purpose is to see if therewere some life in it thanks to a laser canon which is metling the matter at more than 10k °C. Then, they scan the light reflection and analyse the color to know if there were hydrogen, carbon, oxygen in the spectrum received.

I wonder what their problem is with taking pictures. On their next trip they should just take and i-phone with an outtercase.

That's interesting what you said above. I wonder if the whole craft is exposed to that heat or just the outter shell?

It's quite an accomplishment we even made it to mars.

I find it fascinating. Make sure you check out the "7 seconds of hell' videos. There is one by people involved in the project and one by William Shatner and Will Weaton

You are amazed? You have no idea the technology that the US government hides away from the general public

Nice to see that Curiousity survived the 7 minutes of Hell. Now the question is will it have the same longevity as its predesssors Spirit and Opportunity, especially since Opportunity is still functioning after 8 years.
