weird - stupid question, when registering a exp-domain

Hi all,
as stated, this might be a stupid or even weird to someone, but I just want to confirm something.
I am about to register a domain name. only thing which holding me back about the phone number.

I have use a fake name etc, and also a fake telephone number, but if I were to register a DN would this matter? the reason for asking

would they call me on this number, I know namechape did. also if I were to place a correct number would this show up on whois info?

btw, I am trying to register a expire domain.
also, would you suggest any registrars?

I just use a Google phone number for all my registrations.. I do keep my domain info private from the public but the domain registrar just calls the Google number and leaves a message if necessary.

It's important to know that Google have no rights what-so-ever to know who owns a domain if it is privately registered. Interestingly ICANN has been taken out of their current ownership very recently so things may change. For now though, if an individual cannot tell, Google cannot tell. They don't have special snooping rights with WHOIS or ICANN. They are just a privately owned, for profit company with no more rights than you or I when it comes to this sort of stuff.

They don't check phone number , if you want to be sure use a free voip number
