Weird Message on Facebook

Hey all. Just got the following message on a client's Facebook business page:

"I am working for an advertising company, we are looking for traffic to sponsor ads, we only provide verified Facebook ads. We want to advertise on your Fanpage page. We will pay you 75 USD to 150 USD per ad. Do you want to participate in advertising?"

It's a pretty weird request that I've never heard of, so of course I didn't answer and deleted the message. Have you ever received anything like this?

Look up that advertising company, if it's legit, why not
 
I would just block and ignore. Not something you should ever risk on your clients page.
 
It does happen.

For example.... let's say you're a big authority fan page with 1 million followers - an advertiser might be willing to pay you $100 or $1000 just to create a few ads under your fan page and leverage your brand, authority and recognition in order seem more authentic with its target market.

I've thought about appraching brands to do this in the past. I wouldn't necessarily think it was a scam. Just keep a close eye on the ads they create (manually approve them) so that you don't get your fan page into any sort of heat with your core audience or FB.

But why would you message with a fake bot spam profile if you were a legitimate advertiser?

If its a bot contacting you - then ignore it. You're probably dealing with a lazy marketer that likes to take shortcuts.
 
Hi

The fan-pages that are busy understand this form of messages such as every single day. None is really just an organization that is legit. They slip your web page and will get within your enterprise Supervisor.

No man, as someone else said, you are probably dealing with someone who is trying to steal your webpage. Even if the person says "don't worry I don't need access" and really sends you money, they can just be trying to build trust, then after you trust them, they get access to steal your page and chargeback the money they sent. My point was that if you really don't know what you are doing, and especially if you are working with a clients page, you really just need to block immediately and ignore it. It's very dangerous stuff and if the page is a serious Facebook page, it's better to just assume they are all scammers who are smarter than you trying to trick you.
 
Well if they are interested in advertising in your clients fb page, why not? You make money right? So may be they are interested in advertising in your page.

This happens always to fan pages which have huge likes.

Did you just decide to post without reading any of the replies already written?

Why not? Page can be hacked (social engineering), page can look spammy, client can get pissed off, client can get tricked when they hear about easy money and you have to convince them about the potential problems, it drives business away from clients page.

That's even mass message and not targeted to you personally. Good you already cornered the lazy spammer.

yeap yeap this happened for my instagram handle they send me an offer of 55$ to add story on my instagram handle, later they asked for login details too. we returned the money and blocked them.
 
On of my Friends Facebook Page got hacked as same this way. and now hackers ask for ransom for give it back
