Everyone doing local SEO has likely seen it already.

You Google a local keyword (plumber LA), and instead of the Map pack, you only see a GMB on the right side, looking like a knowledge graph or the same SERP you have when you look up a local business brand name.

Has anyone figured out what it effects? How I could trigger that or how I can remove that?

The issue is that because of that my client cant rank for one of there services on the map pack and I try to figure out a work around.

Discovered I can just focus on the keyword thats just service instead of service + city, as it dosent trigger the weird SERPs.

could it be a change in how google is behaving towards its uers ?

When Google thinks the keyword matches a specific business or strong entity, it can replace the map pack with a knowledge-style result.
It’s not something you can directly “remove,” but you can shift intent signals through content and query variation.

That only happens when the competition is low, and there aren't too many GBPs for that targeted area. If there are only a few GBPs for that targeted area, then Google might start showing the local pack for that term.
