I think, you summed it up pretty much. The answers are in your questions mostly. In addition, the size of a market often isn't the most important factor, buying power is, which might be increasing in China, but it's still not on the level of a tier 1 country. But most likely the language barrier is the biggest issue, which results in a lack of knowledge too. If you ask people about Weibo in Western countries, the vast majority of them won't have a clue about it. It's not in people's heads at all to even just consider to market on it.I'm a newcomer but I feel compelled to ask, why is the number of discussions on weibo so much lower than facebook or instagram etc? I understand they are the dominant social media sites in US, but is the Chinese market not MUCH bigger? Is this not an obvious opportunity for a lot of black hat enthusiasts? Or is it because the language and culture barrier is too great for vast majority to bother spending time talking about it? Would love to hear what others with more experience think.
