Website's hit in October update

With sites in different niches. Gaming seems to have been hit across the board - I seem to notice this trend, mine included. One example, a 2010 game blog with over 1800 articles, got hit from 10k AHREF down to less than 2k now, and it is still falling weekly!
I've tried removing some content, updating some, and putting up some long articles. But nothing is improving the climaxual fall! Built some new links too.
So, yea.. Any ideas?

Thanks for reply, I'll keep updating. Do you think AI content should be avoided? On this site we have used the original only.

Some times you can recover rankings in few weeks after the update fully rolled out. If your site is perfectly optimized & having good quality content then don't change anything. Yes you can update old contents.

Many good authority websites have tanked with the Oct update not because the content is bad but because Google doesn't think it's relevant. Check for the new pages that are ranking for those queries.

AI content can be a slippery slope. Google's getting better at identifying and penalizing low-quality AI-generated content. Stick with original, high-quality content that provides real value to your readers. As for recovery, it's hard to put a timeline on these things. It depends on how quickly and effectively you adapt to the new algo requirements.
