website up and down on google

One of my sites was sitting on first page until the google update slapped its arse, later down the line i decided to build links to the site along with some social signals and sape links. Now 2 weeks later the site is bouncing from 4th page to page 20 and back ( from nowhere to be found). Would you say this is a good sign?
google dance comes to mind but i am unsure.

the site is pr2 and 4 years old.

were not talking a few backlinks here and there, from 10k to 250k

Give it a couple of days and see where it ends up. Hopefully its just a dance.

I had just recently a few sites bounce from 2-5 -> 200-... and i had ranked 2 for about 3 months. hopefully i will do a little dance, back up.

same here had my money sites drop from 1 on google to no where to be found. and other notable sites that were ranking have dropped as well. seems a big drop happened and i noticed a big spike in my indexed pages on google. i would think this would help my ranking not hurt it

So there is infact something going on with the SERP algos? figured it was just because of some new links I built/lost.


Been dancing between from #4 to #8 the past few days.

interesting that i am not on my own on this one then, Fingers crossed. Today its bouncing around again, out of all honesty the 250k backlinks i threw at it did very little but the social signals for some reason have irritated the positions, Something to consider.

I've noticed this too for a few weeks on one of my sites. Keeping an eye on this site in particular now.

250k backlinks are way too much i guess many of them are blog comments...
