website portfolio advise needed

Currently I own the below 3 sites

Site 1 = 10 Years Old and 200 Articles
Site 2 = 2 Years Old and 350 Articles
Site 3 = 6 Months and 100 Articles

My idea was to let them all age and add as many articles as possible. This way they will all get high authority, new articles will hopefully rank quicker and higher and hoping to be less vulnerable to google updates.

But

Recently I bought a site on flippa for 1000usd and earning 40 usd a month, in 2 weeks I managed to get it to earn 400-450 usd with some tweaks.

So, I am now thinking to have my main 3 authority sites and then keep buying these smaller sites on flippa.

My real question is I am worried having to many sites and not really focusing on any 1 site to enable it to grow. How do you think about owning multiple sites compared to just 3 sites.

keep the winners and sell the losers. A trend ive seen is most people have X amount of sites with the vast majority or their income coming from 1 or 2. Its good to diversify but if you dont have the capactiy to maintain all of the sites and dont scale up accordingly its best to focus on whats working. 80/20 rule here works wonders.

Focus on 1-2 sites with the most potential at the time. The rest let them sit if they are stable and have good earnings. Sell when you are in need of cash or when you feel like the website has reached its peak and will start down-trending soon without investment.

the things I did were

-10 Articles with thin content, 400 words or less, added more content or removed and 301 the page
-No articles configured for snippet answers
-Site used adsense, moved to ezoic
-Every article had between 10-20 external links in them that was not set to no follow
-Most articles were not really optimised for a keyword
-Changed the title for most articles moving keyword to the beginning
-no h2 or h3 in articles just bolded
-images not optimised (Large file size, large size and not lazy loaded)
-youtube videos were not lazy loaded
-site was taking 5-10 seconds to start to load any page because of slow hosting
-No caching activated on the site
-Slow theme (I replaced with the one from income school)
-no amazon links, they were using the native amazon ads to show amazon ads
-I disabled about 10 un needed wordpress addons
-Improved content, Added FAQ to every article
-deleted and noindexed tag pages
