website is really slow

I made some tests on pingdom with few of my websites (hosted on dreamhost, domain on godaddy) and it has an average loading time of 6-7 seconds.

I found out that the domain wait time is really high. Is it a problem of godaddy?
any of you has the same problem with godaddy or dreamhost recently?

I have had problems with Godaddys hosting in the past, but the fact that you purchased your domain there shouldn't cause this problem. This is likely an issue with the hosting plan you have with Dreamhost.

Is your site particularly media heavy? You can always contact dreamhost and request that they increase your max execution. If you have a bog standard hosting package and you have alot of content you may want to consider bumping to a better package.
 
How heavy is your site? Tried CDN? Mostly it depends on the no. of sites hosted on the host.
 
Are you using wordpress? You might want to try and optimize your database and images.
It might also be that your hosting provider it throttling your speed.
 
I have 9 websites on my hosting. Websites using wordpress. Each of them is between 50-250mb (mb on the host).

I took a look in my hosting account
Your Account Provides:

unlimited Disk
Used: 1 GB
unlimited BW per Cycle
Used this Cycle: 11.6 GB


I thought I can make as much websites as possible, because it is unlimited...
 
If you are a godaddy shared server you have got the absolute pits in webhosting.

Optimise your images will probably save you the most time and you can try cloudfare or Google pagespeed but if your hosting is shitty you will always suffer with load times.
 
If you are using shared hosting the total amount of memory and processing power of the (virtual) server will be divided amongst several accounts. This means that the resources available will be limited. Since you're running multiple sites at once this might at times require more processing power and memory than available...
 
If you have some technical knowledge, going for a VPS might be the best solution since you'll have full control over your resources and you'll be able to upgrade when needed.

try a hosting company which is not owned by EiG.

All unlimited packages with Godaddy are shared hosting unless you have actually signed up for a VPS or Dedi then thats what you have.

Edit: miss read that you were hosting on GD. Pretty much same applies to dreamhost or any EIG product though.

Look for a better hosting company, but also use a cache to make your sites load quicker. Every second makes a difference.

That's where the problem lies. There are hidden caps behind those unlimited storage and bandwidth offers. Once your websites starts using up a certain amount of bandwidth and storage to the point where it starts affecting the websites of other customers, the performance of your website will suffer and they may even suspend your hosting account.

Solution: Upgrade your hosting plan.
 
Hosting is almost always the problem. I'm using www.1dollar-webhosting.com and it's amazingly fast (for $12/year)! Also, use the WP Fastest Cache plugin, WAY better than WP Super Cache or W3.
