    I am thinking about making a website in which people can trade online services (i.e.: an article writer can trade his/her services with a web designer).

    Think this is a good idea?

    How in the world can you see this as a good idea?

    You mean to take a fine example of our ancestors who traded tomatoes for potatoes?
    This is why we have "MONEY" so people can earn it and purchase spend it how they desire!
    I must admit that this is probably the worst idea I've seen to date!

    It really isn't that bad. If there are people that are willing to use the service(And there are) then its a bad idea.

    so good that craigslist has a section on Barter.

    Barter works when both parties do not really want to dish out the cash for the product or service.... but they will trade work for work...

    It is much easier to trade work than money.

    Don't let negative posts get you down. Bartering is needed more in the world, especially how the economy is now. It's a great idea. People barter everyday and don't always realize it. You will need to put a middle-man type system into the site that makes sure users always get their end of the deal though.

    An example of such a system would most likely need to provide a preview of the finished content, and not allow full view until both are marked as completed on the system.

    You'd also want a feedback type function sort of like Ebay's, along with some good site security. I'd recommend SSL with your own twist on captcha and login keys to prevent password crackers from hijacking accounts easily.

    Oh btw, I just bartered with you giving my ideas for giving me the whole idea of a bartering website. Funny how much we use it everyday. (;

    you would probably need to have some kind of way to let users post jobs they want done and then either make every thing the same "cost", do a hi-med-lo "cost", or a credit system.

    ex: "i want a 500 word article written on dinosaurs" for "200 credits"

    Great idea, just need to work out how you are going to get money out of it.

    You could take a commission like fiverr, however you are only dealing in credits or services rather than $$$.

    I would happily trade on there.
