Website has weird issue with the keywords. Anyone with same experience?

If you have multiple pages targeting the same "key word" where Google is unsure which page to rank for that keyword....In this

case you can use Canonical tag to show the preferred page ...

I have checked my website and there is no duplicate or pages with same keyword targeting, because I only have a main landing page and two article about two different websites... should I still use canonical tag though? that I prefer my main page instead of posts?
