Website getting hit each Google update with 5 to 10% drop

Hi,

The website is getting a drop after each Google update by 5 to 10% and that since two years now. After each Google update, I got a hit. Now the loss totally about 50% as total.

I can see now the old posts (which were getting traffic before) getting dropped and some of the newly published posts not getting traffic (some of them) !!! What's wrong?

Pages are indexed and in search but on 3rd page or fourth page on Google.
Some people recommend buying backlinks with good quality such as edu links, but I'm hesitant and more sure if this will resolve the issue.

Does anyone face or heard any scenario like this before?
Is it an over all quality issue so it needs updating the content? or need for buying backlinks?

5 to 10% drop is not bad actually. It can be recovered with minor tweaks on the website.

5 to 10 percent after each update, I lost traffic about 50% or more total now. So it's a big loss.
That's why I posted the issue here and all suggestions are highly appreciated.

Are you updating site by adding/updating content? If not you are getting outranked in each update. The whole point of recent updates are not to hit site like yours but to get "better" content towards top.

I didn't update old posts. So the hit after each update is due to outdated content?

Also, why the new posts (most of them) are not getting traffic?

What kind of post are they info or affiliate/commercial? Check serp results if it's dominated by ecom sites or youtube and not blog post you are not gonna rank. Of if by high authority sites.

Too much competition and lot of authority sites on top 10.
So what you can do:
Before selecting a keyword to write about do this
allintitle:your keyword
if you see like more than 20 results skip the keyword and move on to next keyword
Also, write articles for very low, low and medium comp keywords (use semrush or ahrefs for keyword difficulty).
Another tip, if something is already answered or intent is fulfilled by a few high authority sites, these sites will be extremely difficult to out rank, so skip.

The ones that are ranking you can try to improve and hit 1st position.
One way to do it by including content with missing entities.

Think in terms of ranking not traffic. You rank higher you get more traffic. 1st position is what you should try to hit.

Sure, but the pages with low traffic are on position 40 or 50.
That's why I asked what to do with them

When the loss happened for first updates, did you make any changes to correct this? You can make those changes still if you have not done yet.

I don't know the cause actually.
I lost my mind figuring out what is the caus.

There are threads on each update on blackhatworld. Go through them, members have mentioned what type of sites got affected in each. According to that, make changes now in blog.
