Website Design vs Pagespeed? Which is the Most Important?

Core Vitals is not about speed... I mentioned this yesterday. You can have a "slow" site and still pass the core vitals requirements.


Can't comment on what you need to do as I got zero experience with that theme or builder. Are there any CCC plugins (Combine, Compress and Cache) ?

This is the one problem with using a builder vs doing it your self, is that a builder will have so many things that you don't need as it has to work for everyone you need to understand what to remove and take away AS WELL as keep. But if you can do that then you I would suggest building without one..

I use MyThemeShop. I can achieve over 60+ for pagespeed insight mobile score with over 30 plugins (no ads).

Reco theme is way more better but I don't like themeforest.net pricing system. Pay for every site installation.

Try giving Oxygen Builder a try. It's more of a theme builder than a page builder in my opinion, but you can certainly use it to build pages.

Despite what your pagespeed metrics are, does the site feels like it loads slow? I don't know if I would scrap the entire design just to hit a certain number. Computer Science professor and author of The Art of Computer Programming, Donal Knuth is famous for saying, "Premature optimization is the root of all evil." and in your case I might have to agree. What's more important than page speed and website design is having something that is available now. Build. Rank. Bank.
 
Speed is really important. Just keep in mind that a nice looking website does not have to be heavy!
 
Why not change your hosting instead?
Your page speed setup most be very poor.
 
I understand where you are as I have myself been there. Generatepress, Neve, schema lite have been my current choices. Speed has become of very much importance now. I expect these heavy design themes to come up with some solution soon.

I am currently researching a lot to learn the process of speed optimization. Also another alternative is a using custom html design with custom CMS. I use this on PBN's often. Need to solve this as May is approaching.
 
If most of your users come from mobile devices (they probably do), I'd say speed.
As long as your content is readable and valuable, your site could be a simple white page with dark text and most smartphone users would probably be happy.
However, I think design is important for desktop.
If your site looks like Windows 95, users would probably assume the content is outdated as well, and won't bother reading it.
So I'd mostly focus on speed.
Remember, you can lose up to 40% of your users if your site takes more than 3 seconds to load.

I find most off the shelf themes are too bloated. Speed affects bounce rate so Generatepress or Astra are both good choices IMO.
 
Man use Pingdom to test the speed. If its under 3 seconds then you're fine. I wouldn't use the score from google because those are all out of wack.
 
My opinion is that the speed is more important than the design , for my self i used a fantastic website design so it was a bit slow while i find another website giving same offers not perfect design but its faster so i start use the fast one.

Also keep in your mind the world change fast so you need fast in general and in your life .

This is exactly the method I usually take for affiliate marketing.
 
I think both is important, you can use vector graphic photos and good design and you'll get Perfect graphic and fast page speed.
 
you can always get both with a lot of themes :)
there are plenty of good ones
 
Speed, simplicity is best, just look at Healthline minimalist design.
 
Speed for sure is more important - no one wants to wait long in our rush world.
Web site usability is the most important thing I think than web design.
