Website Description in SERPs doesnt show correctly

when i try checking what my site looks like in the serps, google puts random junk in the description.

when i check my website in google using quotations like "website.com" then google displays the correct SEO description that I supplied to the wordpress SEO plugin.

how do I fix this? i'd appreciate any help, thanks!!

Is it a newly indexed website? Exactly the same thing happened on a new site I put online about 6 weeks ago, and it just seemed to fix itself after a few weeks.
 
Are yo sure that this plugin is correctly displaying the meta data? Maybe you think that the plugin works but it actualy doesn't. Check manualy your source code and take a look at the meta description.
 
Google will normally use your meta description as your snippet it shows in the SERPs. However, it reserves the right to show text from your page when it thinks that text more accurately describes what the person is looking for.

If you are optimized for a keyword and your meta description has that keyword in it, usually Google shows the meta description. If what someone searched for is not contained in the meta description is usually when Google makes their own snippet.

First step is to view source of your page and see if the "meta description" tag is there. Also, when you use multiple plugins, sometimes they fight over putting meta descriptions on your pages and you end up with 2 ... in which case you disable one of them.
 
well sometimes it happens when you have updated meta description in SEO publish than also Google is showing something different. I would just suggest you check the view source of the website whether it shows different meta description.

This is exactly what happens.

Came to the same conclusion myself lately.

Be careful with those plugins.
 
Thanks guys! I'll check the plugins and theme.

edit: i figured it out. it seems for the websites i own that are messed up, there is one thing in common that they share versus the websites that are not messed up. google messed up the descriptions when i wrote my full URL in one of my wordpress posts. all i have to do is remove those URLs from the posts.
