WebNoob's Journey to 300K PV/Month

It is my first journey here. I have earlier made some money with blogger blogs. It is the first time I am going with wordpress. I am making a site on a niche that don't have any buying keywords. Also most of the the traffic will come from third tier countries. I will be mostly monetizing it via Adsense and CPA offers.

What I have done so far?

Bought a new domain. I did not go for any expired domain with DA/PA etc. as I wanted to see how it will go with completely new domain. Registered for 3 years straight.

Bought 3 Years Shared Hosting.

Installed wordpress and necessary plugins like yoast seo.

Added to analytics and webmaster tools.

I have published 8 pages of content and a static homepage. Yes this is not a blog. I will not be posting blog posts as static pages will do the work I guess.

Average page content is only about 450 words. I will be updating the pages and will add more content as needed.

Signed up for SERPLab.co.uk and configured as needed.

Total Investment So Far

Domain : $30
Hosting: $43 - 3 Years
Theme - $70 - 1 Year - Elegant Themes - I actually purchased it for another project (that has yet to start) but I will be using its themes so let's consider it as well.
Scrapebox - $67 - Again not for this project but I will still consider this as I might be using it in this journey.

Total: $210

Target

300K Page Views/Month (According to Google Analytics) - Within 180 Days.

I chose Page Views as target as i know the traffic potential of the niche but not earning potential. We'll find out at the end of the journey.

I have not added adsense or any CPA offers yet. I will add them only after I start getting some stable traffic.

Today is Day 5 of the journey if we count from the day of reg. of the domain.

I will be updating the thread daily with Unique Visits, Page Views and Earnings and probably my Rankings too.

I was not expecting visits anyway.

What I did?

Changed theme. Added Contact Us, About and Privacy Policy pages. Added Social Sharing Plugin.

Day 7

Unique Visits: 0
Pageviews: 0
Earnings: 0


What I did?

Made Facebook Page. Added more content to homepage.

It is the first time I am working with wordpress. I only have experience with blogger blogs. So it is taking some more time initially to setup things and learn basics.

Day 8

Unique Visits: 0
Pageviews: 0
Earnings: 0

I am getting some views so I have switched on filters at analytics.


What I did?

Did not do a lot of things. Just setup Google+ page.

Pageviews: 2
Earnings: 0

Got a visitor via Social Page. Still to rank in top 100 for any of my keywords.

What I did?

Added content and updated all of my pages. Made some small tweaks in theme and appearance.

Day 10

Unique Visits: 0
Pageviews: 0
Earnings: 0

Not ranking in top 100 for any of my main keywords but ranking for around 50 long tail keywords within top 100.

What I did?

Nothing much. Some commenting. I have decided to work on my content and add more content to all of my pages. It is the task of this week.

Day 11 & 12

Nothing special to report. Working on content. Real action will begin after day 30, I guess. I will keep updating.

Day 13 to 18

Guys don't think I gave up. I am still here. Just busy with other important things in life. But the Journey is ON!

Nothing special to report. My site is ranking for couple of my main keywords at page 8 and 9. Also ranking for long tail keywords in page 4, 5, 6.

I have made great content plan but yet to execute it as I am short in time. But I will get almost everything "ON Page" of site done by Day 30!

How many words of content do you have on you site? Also make sure you install security plugins. Ithemes security works fine for me.

Titles and H1 at your pages the same?

Currently around 5000 to 6000 Words.

I have security pluguin installed.

I don't know if I completely understand your question, but page title is H1 by default in Wordpress as far as I know.

3 weeks already and you got 0 visitors?

you have to have unique titles for every page you create for better serps

If I count bot visit and social visits I have got around 60 visits till now. But that doesn't matter as my target is to get organic traffic.

Just wait and watch. I am confident I will achieve my target before the deadline of 180 days.

I know that. All my page titles are unique.

I am only using pages instead of posts, other than that there's no difference.

Day 19 to 21

Still nothing much to update. I started working on content seriously from today as last week was very busy for me.

Still not able to rank in top 30 for any keyword. But it's only 21 days till now and Google needs time. Hopefully I will be able to complete all my "on page" work by Day 30. An then focus on off page SEO. Currently, I am not doing much of off page SEO. Occasionally I only share my pages in Social Media and do some blog commenting.

Day 22 to 28

Since I bough new domain, I think it is going to take time to rank. As I have posted in OP, I only have earlier experience with blogspot blogs and they rank quickly compared to new domains. It has not been even 30 days of registering domain, so we have to patient.

I will be updating this thread weekly now. After 2nd month I might update daily.

Day 33

Nothing special to report. I will be building/purchasing some Web 2.0 sites soon to give my site some boost.

Day 40

I guess my site is still in sandbox because it's not ranking on page 1 for any keyword and generally ranking for some long tail keywords in page 5 and below. It has been only 30 to 35 days of Google indexing my site for the first time. So it might take time.
