Webcam Studio 101

So did you manage to get it sorted? update us lol

Yes an update would be nice. but i think someone looking for a return of investment and profit in 3 months is dreaming. business is about long term goals and possible profits. the internet and utility costs are large. can't have a cam studio without good utilities and airconditioning. if he can't make long term profits without 36 girls, buen suerta. who manages this when he is home at his day job. oh well, hope to get an update.

Ran across this thread because I'm living in Medellin and working but figured I'd use my extra rooms to setup a studio and maybe grow it into something larger. I figured I'd throw in some things I learned in my research so far and maybe get some collaboration on some questions, I'm hoping to get this thing going in the next week or two.

I have a few amigas here who I've known for a couple years who work as models. I interviewed them this week to figure out some the details. I also signed up for LJ and got my girlfriend to do some modeling to check out the interface. I've applied for a MFC twice now with no response, I'm going to keep trying every 2 days. I've already got a Camera de Comercio and a RUT.

Everyone I've talked to says the big issue is flaky girls who who don't show up, or quit after they get enough to buy whatever it was they were working towards. Recruitment / training seems to be a big time sink. All the girls I've talked to found work in this industry through either: someone handing out fliers near their university / around clubs / on the street, from an ad in the newspaper classifieds, or through a friend. Some studios give the girls a bonus 100k if they bring in a girl and she lasts more than 30 days. I'm hoping to find talk with some people handing out fliers (for other companies in other industries) and see if I can get them to also do so for me, and institute the same bonus.

Most studios seem to give ~ 55% to the models, some have scales which pay out more if the model makes more. With LJ, the payout depends on what the rate is set to. With MFC, the payout is 3 bucks / minute in private. I'm shooting for 55% and will have some projections of "if you have this many minutes of private time per day, you would take home x.." to help convince potential hires to take the job.

I'm in need of furniture. It seems that often studios don't buy an entire bed (it's big) for workstations but sometimes use something called a "Poof". It's basically a very small reclining mattress bed thing which has back support. If you google "Poof sillon" or something, you'll find it. I'm hoping this is a cheaper option and allows me to put a curtain in each room, dividing it into two work areas instead of one.

Studios often have an administrator on full time or at a minimum during the day. The administrator performs scheduling, makes sure the girls get docked if they are late (10k-20k), and sometimes performs training. The biggest responsibility and time sink of the administrator seems to be dealing with technical issues on the PCs. I'm a tech guy, and am hoping to get around that by using group policies and limiting the trouble the models can get into and the applications they can open. I'm also thinking of some way to completely wipe the machines on boot to eliminate any potential virus' and will be disabling the USB ports. I only want them to be able to load the webcam site applications, a split cam application, and possibly skype. I've found some free internet cafe software that might do the trick (and be less work than using a GPO without a Domain Controller) and solve a lot of these issues at once if I can disable some of the features that I don't want.

Bandwidth is a big concern for me at the moment. I don't care about download speeds too much, I'm concerned with upload. Among the Une offerings for residential service, all of the plans, even up to 100Mb/s download, have only 1Mb/s upload. MFC recommends 2Mb/s up for each working model. I launched the LiveJasmin interface and watched my bandwidth, I saw it taking around 0.5Mb/s of upload. I can't tell from the Une business internet options what the available upload speeds are, but I'm sure there's some other options there.

I've got an account with Bancolombia here and I'll be sending funds directly to that account. I *think* that Bancolombia has a feature where I can take out credit cards which I deposit money on. I'm going to try to figure out how to never pay anyone in cash if possible, I know some of the larger studios somehow do this with a card that the girl uses to withdraw at an ATM. At larger scale, the exchange rate may end up killing me. Unless I call Bancolombia first and negotiate a rate on a wire, I noticed the completely rape me.

That was a bit of a rant, but I'm hoping some of that info is useful to someone. I'm still in the process of seeing how this goes and I'm sure there are 100's of ways to sort out these details.

One thing I thought of today... Other than my Camera de Comercio and RUT, do I need anything else? I need to ask my accountant here that question, but if someone knows... I'm wondering what if anything I need the model to sign when they come to work the first day. I don't really know if there are any litigious issues that could come up or any way to protect myself or if there's anything I'm obligated to provide them as an employer.

Te voy a llamar hoy.

Parce se puedes llamame...creo q ustd tiene mi numero...tengo q hablarte unos detalles sobre la vuelta no del estudio pero la otra q me tenias commentado sobre Floralia y los otros barrios de estrato bajo.

Maybe you misinterpreted what I said. Am not looking for a ROI in 3 months. Am looking for the studios to be selfcuficient in 3 months and not need any of my money lol.

Well it seems you know exactly what your talking about. So let me help you with some of the problems your facing. First, recruiting gets solved for itself once you get at least 10 stable girls to work for you as they become your recruiters. I suggest giving them a percentage of whoever they bring in. Gives them a mayor incentive to get them there and keep them there. Alot of girls are flaky due to the fact that alot of studio owners are also flaky. I bet that if you approach the situation professionaly from the start you will have less flaky girls.

As far as payment there are studios paying girls "80%" but don't tell the truth about how much the girl is really making in the big picture. Which can work with you or against you. Some girls like "big numbers" and some girls like "real numbers". When you start talking to each one you will know which is which.

As far as beds, I found a furniture company that would give me 7 "twin-size" beds for about 860k. For my work stations they fit perfectly. I really try and make my workstations look like rooms which seems to increase profits on the sites. Some guys like the girls next door I guess lol. Am using an open space type of design with a mixture of curtain-type divisions and more conventional(private rooms) divisions. With the curtain divisions you need a webcam that can cancel out extra sound. Some of the newer Logitechs have a technology called "RightSound Technology" which is great when dividing with curtains.

If you can find a trustworthy manager that is also good with computers then your in luck. In my case I have a manager and a computer tech on payroll. But you do need both, a good tech and a trustworthy manager or you will find yourself spending more time managing the studio than trying to effectively promote your girls.

Internet speeds are a problem. It seems you can get unlimited download speeds but upload speeds majorly lack. As suggested by a friend here in Colombia that has a studio he just grabbed 2 or 3 different ISPs and split the upload speed between the computers he had. 0.5-1 mbs is used per computer. So putting Une and claro together can solve that problem.

Am also going to get a bancolombia account. Even though I receive payment in my USA bank accounts then transfer over the girls payment to bancolombia. I have employed security and such so cash payments is not such a big deal. But I am looking for a way to pay the girls more directly and not risk a robbery attempt. But up to this point the only way I can think about is western union the girls all their money and split the fee with them. Studios that offer the girls a "prepaid" card as a payment vehicle are already making millions so the fees are nominal at best. To wire transfer I use FX house by western union, I don't recommend using that service unless your wiring 10k+ as the fees under that are not worth it.

The camera y comercio is good because it gives you local protection from police. But the RUT is unnecessary for the simple fact that you won't be selling nothing to Colombians thus making you exempt from paying any tax. The only other "permit" you might need is the windows operating system license because if you get the computers without that license it is considered "copyright infringement" and if the police come in your computers will get confiscated. For windows xp it would add 175k to the price of each computer.

Each site is a little different put for the most part all you will need a picture of the girl holding her sedula and then a separate picture of it. That's it.

Am a send you a PM with my email so you can contact me directly.

hope this helps everyone out there a bit more.

the sites will walk you through the process, Age ID is muy importante. though I have heard that many get away with faking it. they will shut you down and you face possible arrest if caught. so do not try that route.

Very true. I have come accross a couple studio owners that use underage girls with fame IDs and the like. 1 I think that it's very wrong and 2 it doesnt fit my business model. I want to create power brands. Not a possibility if we are dealing with little underage girls.

was gonna get into this with my wife. I have experience managing an escort service in South Florida for 2 years. I also had a small agency in Barranquilla that my gf ran for a bit.

My mother is Colombian and I'm a Colombian/US citizen. I've been all over the country. My advice. Trust NOBODY AND I MEAN NOBODY other than your family. They'll smile to your face and then rob you blind. Happened to my father in the 80's in Cali and it happened to me this year. Be very careful. Cam studios are great places to rob and a lot of those girls like having their little thug boyfriends from the barrio who won't be afraid to do an armed robbery.

Sorry to hear that you've had a bad experience with Colombians, however I don't think it's just to put all Colombians in the same category, some are honest some aren't I think you will find the same situation anywhere else in the world. As for the girls and there little thug boyfriends is a fear that really only people who don't know the layout of the city, location is very important when setting up a studio, for example and I hope Juan doesn't mind, but his studio is located in a Barrio that he feels comfortable in and the fear of the boyfriends coming is non existent.
That's a problem I have never had to face or deal with as well due to location of the studio and also having the proper contacts in place.
and lastly "locolombiano" usted es Colombiano y se deja robar, y te da miedo de estos culi y cagados por aqui me da hasta pesar. Por que yo como gringo viviendo en Cali jamas dejaba eso pasar, y me paro en la raya con quien sea.

Sadly it is a trend, and one that is not needed...there are more then enough girls, guys and trannies willing to work in the industry that are of age.

Oh I definitely don't put them all in the same boat. Most of my family is Colombian.
