(Web Hosting Transfer) Am I doing it the right way?

Hi guys, here's the situation:

I got one website that runs really slow & experience frequent downtime. Obviously we can expect that from cheap web hosting right?

Now I had it transferred to my existing StableHost account..

My steps:
1. Delete all the database from the previous webhost cPanel account
2. Go to GoDaddy & change the nameservers to Stablehost nameservers
3. Go to Stablehost cPanel, click on addon domain and add my domain name
4. Install WP

However, when i typed in my domain name, I got this error:


I can't even access to the wordpress login panel..

Anyone have any idea on how to solve this?

Is it because of the nameserver still not updating? But I checked on GoDaddy & it shows that the nameservers are active...

It can take up to 48 hours that DNS servers are propagated. You can flush your computer DNS using ipconfig /flushdns.
You should not had deleted files from the old host until the site is live in new host which you could have checked using ping.

You have a complete site on one web hosting and now want to transfer it to another web host ?

Yes I did. It's just a simple website with one page only.. I just go to softaculous--> select my site& delete..

But you did transfer files and database from your old host?

This is not an error, actually there is no index page inside the document root of the server that's why when you are browsing you are getting content list. Just add your website index.html or index.php in document root or inside the username of domain and then try. Please note that you have to put all the content of your website in the document root of the server or inside the username of the domain.

[Solved] It takes time to see the effect of changing the nameservers. After about 6-8 hours, my site is finally live on the new hosting. Its time to get back to work.

Your problem was the DNS propagation, in most cases this takes 5-10 minutes but it can take up to 24 hours (depending on your ISP). In this time your website can work in USA but in EUROPE is will not work so you will have to wait for the dns propagation to complete.
