I’ve used them before. Good overall experience, the only downside is that your email will be spammed by web design offers from india. I recommend using a secondary email when registring there.

Did you receive the emails to your registered account email for that hosting account? Or did u receive the emails to one of your websites accounts ? Because if you received spam mail to your websites email address then it wasn't your web host but bots using your contact form on ur site.

Emails were sent to the email I used for registration

Honestly, I don’t know if they sold the info, and I don’t care since I’ve used a spare email. I’ve seen some members here complain about the same thing before.
 
Have you used the same email to register the domain name? cause whenever i register domain name without whois privacy i do get so many calls from Indian web designing companies.

I think the domain was private but I’ll check again
 
You can just use disposable mails for any registration testing purpose - https://temp-mail.org/

There are other providers to, I am usually using this one.
