Web host. Do i just rent and where from is best.

Ok so I think I need a site. I'm looking to sell and with a website I can list items from my wholesale suppliers catalogue and when I sell I can buy from my supplier then ship items.
I don't have the money to buy a site.

Is it a good idea to go to a webhost and pay monthly for a store I can personalise? Lets say to start I want to list upto 1000 items who would be good to go to for a site?

As im a sole trader am I limited by the amount of websites I have. I ask as im not sure if I should have a site that's dedicated to say gardening stock. And another site dedicated to say smoking stock. Should I have different sites or just one odd stocked web site.

I don't often make myself to clear and tend to not get many reply's. But help is really needed, and I will learn a lot as I go.

For the most part, I understand what you are saying. Seems like you are confused on webhosting though.
The webhost, doesn't provide you with a site, they provide you the service of hosting the site on their servers. You will need to set up the site on their servers (design,items,updating store,etc), which will cost you money to do.

If you want a website, money is a prerequisite. If I misunderstood, I apologize but please be more thorough.
