So I have been on the hunt for a job as a web developer and it turns out I have a phone interview on Monday. This is a remote job. What should I expect during this phone call?

Thanks BHW

They will ask you for your skills like which languages you have known and are in expert like HTML, HTML5, CSS3, JQUERY, JAVASCRIPT, PHP ETC. And the languages in which you are expert, they will ask some questions regarding it.

They will ask you about your experience in web development and any recent projects you have made, your salary package.

So this interview went well, now have another scheduled with the CEO in the next few days.
Question: This job requires I do the following full time build client wordpress websites (they have template that sometimes need to be modified), PPC,SEO and lead management, some AJAX. What salary could this pay?

Are you doing backend or frontend?
If it's backend, prepare for some questions about algorithms/problem solving.
Frontend should be a walk in the park.

Edit:

Just seen your comment.
That's... a strange requirement you got there. Doesn't sound like you can expect a high salary.

NOPE. NOPE. NOPE.

I worked in a danish company as a frontend engi. & I was paid as much as the backend folks. During the first interview I was asked multiple questions about UX/UI design stuff, problem solving, best practices, workflow etc

That's quite astounding, the frontend developers here are treated as nobrainers since they're not allowed to touch any backend code.

Lol yeah I hear ya, but you probably refering to the typical "jQuery/ajax/wordpress" jobs.

These jobs don’t pay well?

Nope, not really.
It's just a starting point, any idiot can master these stuff in a day or two. ( please don't take this the wrong way, i'm not being a condescending jerk :) )

if you want to tackle the serious stuff, here's a (non-exhaustive) listing of skills/techno to learn as a professional frontend engi :

UX/UI design.
forget Jquery, it's a dead techno. Focus on Angular or React.
Real time communication with the server ( Socket.io for example )
CSS animations
Workflow tools ( gulp, yeoman, etc... )
Data visualization : Charts and admin panels etc..

These jobs don’t pay well?
They normally don't, unless you're in Silicon Valley.
I'd take the advice of @TasDePixels, or just change the field you're working in.
Mobile development always pays well and is (in my opinion, at least) more fulfilling.

It's true that every elementary school kid and their grandma knows HTML, CSS, JS and Python these days. Ajax/jQuery is a dead technology. So don't be too surprised about the paycut compared to the people who work at the backend/system integration/software architecture. Not trying to be a jerk either.

Hey I am from Canada.
This is a remote job, I’m a web developer for 4 years.
if they ask you what is your expected salary? well you should search what is the average rate for Canadian web developer and you can base from there. You could also base from your previous salary from your previous job then add some $$ since you have already 4years experience.
