Hey, I was just wondering.. what do the prices range to get your entire website designed? I've seen some REALLY REALLY Cheap ones for like 10-50 bucks.. and Then I've seen ones that go up in the thousands ...

Is it true that you get what you pay for? Or will 10-50 bucks range do just fine with a professional template? For example.. a lawn care company that wants to get a website designed. is it best to go to the 10-50 bucks range guys, or the big dogs

sorry bro, my designer designs only movies related templates.....if u need then tell me ..........

Rule of thumb: great custom design -> lots of $

On the other hand, if you find a nice template (on themeforest etc) that you like and you can live with small customizations, you can indeed get a very nice looking result with little cost.

Hi GSanders12,

Prices or Cost of we design depends on many factors i.e, it may vary from projects to projects and from requirements to requirements. For more detailed information about Web Design Pricing, Visits: webtechtouch[dot]blogspot[dot]in/2012/09/how-to-estimate-web-design-cost-tips[dot]html:attention

Website pricing tends to be of the cheap (slap a ThemeForest theme on it) and very expensive (hire a design firm with modern flashy offices) variety. There's very little in between.

Lately, I have shifted to selling clients on the business benefits of a website.

As long as it looks decent, and more importantly does the job, then fine.

I tell them that I'd rather spend extra time doing SEO and promoting the site than spending more time matching the shade of green to the lawn they are cutting.

Businesses need to remember that the purpose of the site is to make money. Not to show off to their competitors just how much money they have to spend on reassuringly expensive designers.

YMMV.

That totally depends on what you wanted, if you want a unique and custom made design price will be a bit steep. If you want your website to look like everybody else, I think the $50 will do for you. Remember, website is the face of your business, it's your brand. Good luck!

As in many aspects in life, you will always get what you paid for. If you hire a freelancer (like me :) ), I will first ask you how much is your budget and do the job accordingly. Web design studios will usually charge thousands for their expertise but will definitely deliver what you want, even more than what you asked. Those who charge less than 100 may be a lone ranger, but for the 'big dogs', they usually have a team of people to do different aspect of the design and development of a website i.e user experience, branding, html/css/server side coding, optimisation etc. It really boils down to what you need: if it's just a face on the internet, then 10-50 would do, but if it's about real business, then go for the big boys.

The price depends on the quality of work and uniqueness of the design. There are guys who just copy the other designs and sell it cheaply.

Like WYSIWYG, it's not always true. What you pay for is sometimes what you get.

Shitty designers may charge low, they may charge high
Great designers may charge low, they may charge high

If you're low on money, skip the custom design and go with a premade template then hire someone to modify it to your needs. Custom designers that work with you I generally see charge $20/hr and the sit downs normally take several hours by themselves. Then you got the UX, UI and other teams. Analytics to make sure it converts the best, revisions. Of course you can mix and match, but if you're paying alot you should be getting stellar service and design.

Today when we have multiple companies that offer fancy out-of-the-box Flash websites (the site builders) I think we have to remember (just like other poster said), what is the purpose of the website? What should always be kept in mind, is the best possible customer/visitor experience.

You create simple static websites, which is perfect for needs or purposes where nothing complicated is needed. One thing however, where I disagree with you: You say that to edit static websites, you need to know web programming a bit. I would emphasize the "bit", because there is very little one has to know to for example add new text etc. to a static page. If one uses Frontpage or Dreamweaver, they will make this easier, although possibly adding some not-needed stuff as well.

Simple is many times much more professional than fancy and complicated, if a demand is not served.

It all depends on the quality you get.

You can do a site good looking, or bad looking, but you can also do it simple or advanced.
I can spend days to make a great layout. You need to optimize everything, do it as detailied as possible and take care on a perfect usability. Test multiple color variations, positions and so on.
If someone would like to have a 30 minutes layout (or maybe just can't pay more) he should go to themeforest or something like that.
I've allready done psd layouts for $5000, but that's not done in an hour :)
