So I'm looking to get into offline marketing. I want to provide people with free websites for their businesses (and obviously refer them to web hosting for a decent commission) in order to generate some revenue. My question is, aside from cold calling, how can I effectively reach and market to local businesses?

being creative should bring you loads of clients. cold calling and snail mail or email are the usual ways to reach them. You could post ads on the newspaper or handout flyers. sky is the limit my friend. being different is what captures there attention.

Referrals should bring you the quickest leads right now. The next thing you can do is go to a local convention and gather as many namecards as you can , and also walk into stores/shops that you think they don't already have a website and offer them free websites.

Referrals bring quick leads, but they don't pay much at all. A better way to capitalize on this is to actually sell them websites, and just use a free website builder.

Referral is the best way to get a big client, who will trust you.
