Hey everyone. I am looking to start building websites for small businesses. But I am kinda worried about something. should I help them get traffic? or should i let them handle that?

I would like to get them on a monthly fee, about $27 a month to host and "maintain" the website.. but i'm worried people will not know how to get traffic and then want to cancel my website service?

what do other web designers here do?

looking forward to your answers. TIA

You are wanting to be a website designer I guess it's your job to make an attractive website not market it or do SEO work if you want to provide SEO services or PPC then just outsource the work to someone else then charge them a bit extra than the other price so you get paid for the outsource work for example if it was SEO services of someone else for $1000 charge for them $1100 per month to them

Can't start this business. It's quickly turning into a digital agency type of thing.

You would be obligated to do seo and provide content. Too much.

Here we have an example of outsourcing digital agency. 10% profit margin. Selling some services for $1000 on retainer doesn't happen just like that. $100 for doing all the outsourcing? Nope.

Wel I have done it before and I known thousands of people doing it before

You can have the website traffic part as an optional add-on value service. I do not think anyone would cancel your website manitenance service just because they do not get website traffic, because a business website is their online presence. And even if they want to cancel your website manitenance service, you can try to retain them by offering (upselling) your website traffic service. But, just be sure you know what you are doing and offering good service and understanding your customer's needs very clearly.

Yes, I guess you are right! and I didn't even think about outsourcing marketing services. Thank you!

Thank you, I appreciate that.

If this works, I would just do the SEO myself by finding places to post to and cheap articles. This would probably give better profit.

I have not yet mastered SEO, I would not feel 100$ comfortable selling this service. I have 1 website that I own and i practice with. but I am not on page 1. I would want to show my proof of rankings before selling SEO. I am learning a bit of it. but it seems it is sooo much to learn..

I am just doing Great Content, with backlinks. and seeing what that does. and Writing a sh*t ton of supporting articles on my site

You adjust budget to possibilities and requirements. Then estimate what is possible. That's all.

The mistake you make is doing everything on your own. If you have budget, you buy seo content and places to link on.

How did you start your web design business if you're willing to share?

I have mastered wordpress and laravel recent years, but got stucked thinking about best way to get clients.
